Yes. Girls can join. In fact, the head coach wants more girls especially at the Competitive level. He said too many boys, presumably from St Andrews. He wants girls so that he can compete in local competitions. Probably his KPI to keep winning medals.

How it works is this. If your child can’t swim, he/she joins the Learn to Swim once a week session on Sat 4pm or 5pm slot. When he/she can swim 25 m free and breast, then the child can opt to join Competitive. The training is 5 days a week, 7-9 pm. The coach says their life is basically to study, swim and sleep. Nothing else. Maybe can add in piano.

It needs commitment and discipline. Quite tough training. Maciam like BMT. Alot of shouting, swim up down up down, push ups. But results quite amazing. Never knew K1 and K2 kids can swim so well.

My girls go 3 nights a week only. Agreed separately with head coach already. Else too siong…haha

          Hi phtthp,

I typing on my mobile. Pai seh. Can’t really see pm.

Yes, the Competitive coach taught both my girls butterfly.

Alternatively, the child can learn it at the Once a week session too (Advance lane, not Beginner), but seriously, how much can one learn once a week? The progress v slow lor.

My daughter is currently in P1 cohort and no there’s no swimming class for them, if you want to let them learn the skill.

My suggestion is that you should start outside now so that she is able to get use to the lifestyle before P1.

By what do you define as student care? They have a Sister who does student counselling. They do not have Allied Educators for Behavioural, Learning or Special Needs.

Mummy phtthp: There is a student care centre inside the Canossaville Children's Home which takes in the students both from the School for the Deaf and the Convent, I think.

I will be calling them soon after I get my registration confirmation letter today or tomorrow. My daughter is going in next year together with your friend's child, do ask her to PM me for more info next week.

Last year, SC within and outside 2 km filled up all vacancies nicely. No chance for a couple of PR who couldn't withdraw in time.

Canossa Convent is a small school, and a friend's DD (P1 this year) enjoyed going to school everyday. Teachers are caring and nurturing, as befitting a convent environment. It'll be a good choice for phase 2CS, since there're more vacancies this year. Another good choice will be Marymount Convent (hot balloting for 2CS last year). Otherwise, there're surprisingly several girls' schools in the East with vacancies in 2CS stilll, worth considering if you live around there.

Nevertheless, I think it's better to wait until last day of 2CS to register (unless you happen to be within 2 km of these schools and confident of getting a place). I don't think you want last minute nasty surprise of balloting.
