Comparing Chinese Enrichment (Primary/Preschool)

Has anyone here tried the English lesson for Pri level at Jiang? I heard it is very exam focus. Could anyone share?

so, when do we stop chinese enrichment?

if the kid is enriched til PSLE, will he be able to cope in sec sch?
as we do not think ds1 has the caliber to handle higher chinese standard in SAP schools, we are thinking of not letting him select higher chinese in pri sch when the time comes; as such i am considering stopping berries in time to come; the dad wants to wait until after subject-based banding.
what is your take?

Perhaps i can share this with you. My DS2 is currently in P2. End of last year, I received a call from his MTL teacher. She recommended that I put him in higher MTL this year based on his results. Though his result was not among the best but decent enough for him to go for higher MTL. Without giving much thought, I rejected the idea straightaway. One of the reasons I rejected was becos i have no intention to let him go to a SAP school in future and another reason was bcos I thought I could not cope with the teaching at home. You see, my kids don't attend any enrichment or tuition class at all. I have been coaching them solely by myself, not even with the help from hubs. Being a FTWM, I thought it would be even more stressful for me to cope with that little extras.

However, after second thought , I felt that it was really very selfish of me to deprive him of a chance to learn more. Furthermore, hubs said we really do not know what is the child's limit until we put him into that situation. His teacher also mentioned that even if he can't cope, he can still go back to normal chinese next year. Eventually, I decided to opt for higher chinese, not becos I want him to go to SAP school or get good results but really to LEARN and LOVE the chinese language.

Two months have passed, I can see that the pace that the teacher is going is very very fast, at least too fast for me to catch up. However, what surprised me was that DS2 is coping pretty well even with the extra Tingxie. I am amazed when he was able to do his \"Hao Peng You\" all by himself with minimum help and with minimum mistakes. Of course, it helps that he has a good MTL teacher and he does not hate chinese.

So the moral of the story is that we do not know what is the child's limit until we let him try. You may be surprised that he can do much better that you expect. As long as he does not show strong resistance to the language, it is worthwhile to let him carry on. [/quote][/quote]

yes, no doubt if he can qualify for higher chinese, i will let him try. but i do not want it to be a case of he-can-only-qualify-cos-of-the-enrichment i sent him to or that he-can-qualify-but-still-need-enrichment-to-stay-afloat kind of situation.

Orrrhhh... your pattern similar to my wifey... she also corrects my pronounciation.... luckily I get it right most times...
