Why don't you see a GP first? GP can make correct recommendation.

My upper left eye lid is a little swollen but I just took some medication for swelling first...if doesn't work, will see doctor later. Sian.

I woke up with a eye condiiton yesterday morning and was trying to find this posting.

I am not sure if I had "scratched" my eye accidentally when I was sleeping against the sheet,etc… My eyesight feels normal in sheltered area but when I am under the sun (in bright area), it started to feel blur and become teary. Wonder what’s wrong. I bought those antiseptic eye drop and gel to use. Couldn’t get to a doc since it’s sunday.

This morning, I felt that it’s sort of a strain to use the computer as well. I thought I read a earlier posting on cornea detachment and that was scary… Am thinking if I should go to GP but the thought of going under the sun deters me.

My sis had retina detachment, she had no clue until her appointment with an optometrist who told her to go see eye doctor immediately during a routine check.


I would say don’t go to GP - unless it’s experienced/trusted type cos they are not specialising in eyes. Then again i could be wrong.

I went to SNEC after my sis’ experience (surgery, months of leave cos she couldn’t strain her eyes) and found out I had a slight tear. Laser treatment to close up the gap, lucky it didn’t get worse/recur…but I try to do regular checks.

Those with floaters…don’t worry excessively, but get it checked if you are worried.

Based on what I hear, there are absolutely no symptoms until it gets a bit late…not watery/blurry…but if you see like blackness descending on your eyes…go IMMEDIATELY to A&E. else, make an appointment with SNEC/other trusted eye doctors.

Affects mostly boys. One early warning sign is yellow-eye in flash photography so take close-up 'look into camera' photos of your kids once in a while with flash on and the red-eye correction feature turned off.

I just posted on some eye discomfort this morning. I went to see a GP during lunch and he said that I've eye ulcer..... He said probably due to long term contact lens. I've been a lens user for 20 years but nothing happened so far. He can't do anything for me except to refer me to the specialist. He said I must do it today and not delay anymore.

I went to Raffles Hospital and was attended to this afternoon. Apparently there was a plastic on my cornea. The doc removed it for me on the spot. Feeling some discomfort now but he said it should be better by tomorrow.

It caused me alot of anxiety and discomfort. Eyes are very important and cannot be replace so see a docter soon and don't delay. He will be the best person to advise not us the forumners.

I have had the experience of lens tearing in my eye and it has caused me much stress while removing the torn pieces.

The wierdest thing is, my contact lens are intact. I did the inspection when I am back. I am wearing those monthly disposable lens. I suspect that I could have gotten it from my bed while sleeping. As I woke up feeling that I've scratched my eye ball.

But was most happy to get it out though still having blur vision on one eye now. Hope that tomorrow is back to normal. I was soooo worried that the condition is worst that I could ever imagine. Can't imagine having to wear specs for the rest of my life :roll: Also... think it's a wake up call to seriously consider if I should go for lasik.

Anyone done that and has someone good to recommend???

That was one of the reason why I went for lasik as well. Plus in the long run more cost effective as I was on daily disposables.

Had eye infection oso and ulcers on the eyelid before too when on contacts.

I went to LSC. Tough myopia totally corrected but estig still there and night vision is compromised by starburst effects. But still dun regret doing lah.

It seems that Dr Jerry Tan is highly recommended but v exp. But he is v v thorough and is v strict abt follow-up treatment.

Most prob I will go to him.

Ladies,

If you’ve been on contact lens, do take extra precaution. I used to wear contact lens but stopped after 2 years because my eyes are very dry…besides I feel more tired wearing it. Glasses not very comfortable but safer. Fortunately hubby stopped contact lens too.

My neighbour told me she and her hubby go to Dr Gerald Chua for surgery. My hubby is under Dr Doric Wong at SNEC.
