      Average Joe,

You may like to start reading from Pg 22 of the Bt Merah thread. A few forummers were comparing RMPS and RVPS then. Certain information may be out-dated, though.
      Class Monitor,

Thank you for this. Recently, I had the opportunity to interact with teachers from both schools. I had the distinct feeling that the morale in one of them is lower than that of the other, due to the management style of the school. So while that school is nearer (<1km) vs 1-2km, I have my reservations now because I think happy teachers are more likely to produce happy students.

Hi Divamama, you may wish to consider volunteering your time with the school (assuming the PV scheme is not abolished by then) in 2015/16. The school runs its PV scheme quite well, offering decent assignments (not those 1 hr-traffic warden-type) that will give you a good feel of the school activities, teachers and students. The school is also mindful of accepting too many PVs lest any PV end up being disappointed having completed the necessary hours.

Hey thanks! I've applied for PV but have not heard from the school. Fingers crossed.

Also, it looks like RMPS is much more popular this year. I knew it is a popular school but balloting at this phase... :scared:

Hi everyone, im new here. Next year my son starts P1, he has already secured a place in River Valley Primary School due to his mum is a former student. Currently, we are discussing whether to let him study at Zhangde Primary as it is walkable distance from our house (less than 10 mins). Everyone know these two schools well? We are driving him to school so we would like to know how is the traffic there in the morning? There is no place to place our car so we just park outside the school? Can anyone suggest which school is better? If given a choice, which school will you enroll your kid and why?

              Thanks πŸ™‚

                Hello everyone,

Like many of you, we are in a dilemma to choose between APS or RVPS.

We are very impressed by the charisma of the P,VP and her team of teachers and the new facility of APS. At the open house, we spoke to many teachers and were equally impressed by their enthusiasm and passion for teaching. We saw one P1 girl running to hug her form teacher during our visit and the teacher looked very loving and caring. Surely a new school will face many challenges but the P and her team is very experienced and confident so we also will have confidence that APS may become the next Rulang in central.

RVPS is a school with older history but the facility looks quite run down and the mood of the school quite boring in our opinion. We heard at that open house they will be building a indoor sports complex at the field next year so expect the school to be quite dirty and dusty since the field is just outside and near to the existing lower Primary classrooms. During our visit, we noticed that the classrooms especially those at the back of the school near to the field seem poorly lit.

Do we choose RVPS because it has been around for a longer time?

Can anyone advise on the PSLE results of RVPS?

                Thank you.

Traffic at RV has been heavier than compared to past few years and with the school going single session next year, the situation isn’t going to get better. For rainy days, you may drive inside the school compound to drop your kid off but be prepared for traffic jam.

If I recall correctly, a new student care facility should accompany the new indoor sports hall too.

I believe the portion highlighted in red is true for all schools.

Pardon my ignorance, but will children on the school bus end up being late for school on rainy days?
