Why do you need a full time maid when all of you are not at home?

In my opinion, I think its very risky just leaving a maid alone at home from morning to evening.

Let me guess. Like many dual income young families: the maid does the housework, cook for the kids, pick up the child from school/ from bus pick-up point, bring kids to tuition centre, keep an eye on the kids etc.

My question would be: who has been doing these for them so far? And why can't continue the current arrangement?

Kids eat out everyday, once I home at 7.30pm…I dinner…do a bit of housework …already my pri school kid time to sleep…I did not get to see her school work. This cannot go on …maid is needed for long run. So fresh or experience. Maid suit my case ?

Our couple thinking is : if we work…then money should be use to buy time. We work, come back relax and spend time with kids. These r the importance. Not housework. Weekend eat buy or be together. If we can afford a little bit…We should use money to buy quality time

                  Hi coffeedrinker,

How about those tingkat catering places or getting part-time cleaner? Can neighbour help you pick up child? Can you or your spouse work from home sometimes? I think you should explore other options first before getting a maid. Maids are just another child that you have to look after.

my mum’s current maid also a headache in terms of attitude and temperament…even the postman also hates her because she show black face to him when he ask her to walk a little faster to sign for the registered mail…

we interviewed her using ‘skype’ at the agency and told her what were her duties and our expectations but come here when she arrived also different story…don’t want to learn how to cook and attitude extremely bad…constantly "threatening" my parents say Singapore has many other potential employers, not only my parents! Then when she did something wrong and we correct her mistake, instead of apologizing and correcting her mistake, what she does is to throw our household appliances around to vent her anger! Everytime ask her something, anything at all, she will talk back with loud voice!

my parents cannot tolerate her bad attitude and rudeness and sent her back to agent for counseling and at the agency, she refused to answer the agent’s questions or even look at her! agent also very angry with her…

and after that, she can still tell us she want to change employer and that there are many potential employers in Singapore! Agent was so pissed off with her attitude and told her straight in the face that with her kind of attitude, she will never be able to work in Singapore so the only place she can go is back HOME to INDON and not to another employer’s house!

Now we are waiting for Hari Raya to be over so that there are more maids to choose from…after that episode at the agency she seems to be ok…no more talking back but still show "face" when she not happy with us.

Sigh…really reaching a point where I believe there are no "good" maids anymore…

Well…no maid got problem…got maid also problem. Guess we just need to make a choice. I have friends who only get fresh maid as she like to teach her style. Another one take transfer as she feel less teaching needed. Which one problem is lesser…or maybe the % probability to give problem lower ? I took a transfer before , 4 days later she say she don like cooking. Bluf during interview ! Now this fresh maid here 3 week say when to go … likely becos I will tell her every time she make mistake…think she herself also paisay till when to go. Throw in qulit to machine wash. 3rd time throw in pillow to machine wash. I cook rice…half way she switch off the power. I bake cake…she switch off the oven. Fill up kettle with tap water at 7pm & say 9 pm want to boil. I told her cannot. Want to boil then can fill up the kettle. The next day. I saw her turn on the gas and was wonder why I did not see her holding the kettle from sink to stove and.I ask her did u fill up water again in advance. …she say no…she just fill up 5 min ago…faint…I thought fresh maid is those never work as maid but this one is fresh and silly. I recall my ex maid of 7 year …she not like that…those type can teach one…not like this one. LUCK IS WHAT I NEED NOW.
