No offence but with my brother, sister, me and my 2 nieces that study in hpps before. One of my niece just finish her PSLE last year. I personally find that hpps is a good & famous school, however, it might bring your kids to have stress mentally and physically.

Does phase2B consider distance category if need to ballot? If yes, how does it go about?

yes they do. The first 1km will ballot first. Then if there are still seats left for those outside 1km, they will let 1-2 km ballot next and >2 km will be last.

If as you said, do you mean that there will quota for each distance catergory? Or only ballot for one of the distance catergory?

No, balloting is not like that. Let's say a school has 50 seats now. Then let's say there are 25 pple <1km, 30 pple 1-2km and 10 pple >2km.

The 25 <1km will not need to ballot.
-> 50 seats - 25 = 25 seats left.
The 30 pple within 1-2km must then ballot for the 25 seats left.

Before the end of this phase, the sch will notify the 10 pple who are >2km to withdraw their applications coz they can't get to ballot at all. They have to apply elsewhere. That's why distance is so important.

eg. 100 seats only. But 150 ppl applied.
Out of which only 20 live within 1 km.
The remaining is 90 within 1-2 km.
The rest of the 40 is outside 2km.

So first thing first, the 20 who live within 1 km will safely secure the places in the school.

Now left with those who live outside 1 km. Then they will look at the 90 people who live within 1-2 km from the school. But after the first 20 has been taken up, there left only 80 seats. This means the 90 ppl have to ballot for the 80 seats.

After this ballot, all the 100 seats will be taken up. There left no chance for those living outside 2 km to even ballot.

What do you plan to do after knowing your chance? If you are thinking of taking any action, calling at 4.30 pm will be too late.

Anyone can share what’s the procedure to withdraw if I get a place in school A in P2B and decide that I want to go for school B in P2C?

What do you plan to do after knowing your chance? If you are thinking of taking any action, calling at 4.30 pm will be too late.

If the school you have registered for at 2B is your only option, then basically you do nothing. It is either successfully or unsuccessful. No actions need to be taken.

However, if you have already registered for a school successfully in the earlier phases, then you will have to monitor the statistics of the desired school. You can either have one parent at each school so that one can do the de-registration and the other to join the queue for registration.. or simply go with your gut feeling, give yourself a cut-off time.

Unless you are going thru the GRL or you already have place in earlier phase, there is really nothing you can do but hope for the best.
