Certainly better if one uses hand to juggle the balls and just draw or even paper or any other form that ensures the balls or paper are well juggled and mixed.

bagabunny:
There's such instructions from moe on how to turn ball?
Anyway does anyone dare to tell the P how and what to do?
All jittery and hearts in their mouths already. .

Would it be better if using paper?

At my girl's school, balloting was done in a \"net\" ball with a metal scoop in the center of the ball. Those toto style. Each ping pong ball had a number written on it to represent the girls name. Each girl has been pre assigned to a number so u cannot choose ur lucky number.

It is very unfair to use this toto ball. Because the instruction given by moe is to Gently turn anti clockwise (or clockwise ) once or 3 times then the other direction 3 times. So gently is the key word here and the spinner will do it slow motion and the balls just away left right left right with no jumping motion. I rather those machine can blow air from below the ball jump up and down type works even better than this!

So u can imagine those balls which are in the mid portion has a higher probability to be scooped up as the metal scoop is in the center only. None of us voiced out for the spinner to spin more vigorously. Everyone so gan cheong for that 10 seats out of 25.
Thanks very much, ryes, for this important feedback.

So parents who are balloting for 2B this week -
Before balloting start, remind that person in charge of stirring the balls, to do something, make sure all the toto balls turn vigorously.

Otherwise if balls don't move much, is not fair to always keep picking up balls located in the centre of the cage.

Because once the balloting start, complaint no use, since balls had been selected.
So, do make yr voices heard, before balls start turning.
Before balloting commence.
Make sure all toto balls have a chance, to be turned, fairly.

I agree with Timtim that GRL is not an easy route. I have tried half a year and I found I cannot keep up with it.

I have to acknowledge their contribution to have this priority.
But when come to \"behind closed door\" admission, after the entire P1 registration exercise is over in end August -
Suppose towards end of the year : one child withdraw from a school.
between 2 parents, both from Phase 2B : one GRL, another is PV :
Principal normally prefer to give the vacancy, to the PV.

So, is still better to be a PV.

To be a GRL : make sure you are able to get in, during p2B registration time.

Helping a friend to seek advise

She is staying within 1km of Tao nan and Ngee Ann pri and will be registering her child for phase 2c.

Looking at the stats, Tao nan will have 42 seats for 2C and Ngee Ann will have 56 seats.
Would you advise that she try Tao nan or Ngee Ann next week?

My take is, both schools will likely to ballot but Tao nan risker, may need to ballot for those within 1km whereas Ngee Ann’s balloting may for those that stays further.

Can anyone advise?

thanks

Thee is nothing much your friend can do but to monitor the situation closely.

If like you said, those living nearer to ngee ann would have a better chance of confirming a place, then your friend must decide if she want to take the risk of balloting at Tao nan.

But anything can happen....who knows this year ngee ann might also need balloting for within 1km.

Hi

Need some advice. I am within 1 km to MGS and Pei Hwa under Phase 2C. I have a dd. Which school do you recommend me to register or think I have a higher chance? Many thanks for your advice.

last 3 year data, tao nan have to ballot within 1 km in 2C. last year, my sister failed to secure a place for her DD at tao nan at phase 2B. after close monitoring, she decided to register at ngee ann at phase 2C, as she cannot take the risk of not getting either school. she also stays within 1 km of both schools. ngee ann is also a good school.

It’s quite disappointing to see that most sch ballot for <1km. Leaving no chance for those leaving further away.
