It depends on how you view it. My husband, hahaha, not me, is paying close to $200 for my daughter's bus transport fee to Marymount Convent.

Have you heard of how Amy Chua (the Tiger Mom) doesn’t do things by half measures? If she wants her kids to learn something, they don’t start lessons until she’s found the best teacher. And they’ll go to him even if he lives in another state.

For me, both my husband and I are willing to send my daughter to a school with niches in Rhythmic Gymnastic and Aesthetics (Dance & Arts). The experience my girl gets in the convent school is incomparable to normal neighbourhood school. My girl was reading one day and came across a phrase,\" The rich sent their daughters to convent schools (in the past).\" I had to remind her we are not rich and not poor. Just read with a pinch of salt. Otherwise she will think all her friends come from rich background.

I'm not affluent though there are affluent parents in Marymount convent and they are not the snobbish type. This is what I like

After 2 days of Phase 2C, 74 schools over-subscribed, including RGPS.

113 schools have reached 80% or more TUR.

Last year, a total of 99 schools were over-subscribed in Phase 2C. Do you think the situation will get worse this year?

Yup. Will try to call and check after 11am tmr. Anyway, I have confirmed my dd under phase 2b at MCS but not sure should I go for ATS if there is a chance to ballot since I am staying between 1-2km.

There is still 1 full day of registration tomorrow and already has 10 applicants between 1 to 2km. If 10 more 1km people walk in, the game is over. 10 more 1to2 km people walk in, your probability becomes 50%

I am within 1km to MGS and Pei hwa. But looking at how hotly contested they are, I have heeded CKS’s advice and registered my girl in a school which we stand a better chance to secure a place.

Having said that, will continue to monitor the status in MGS and schools like rgps (> 2km) which is more convenient for me.

For me I have to consider 2 bus fare after 1yr which is $300 per mth. When I studied in Henry park last time n I have to wait for bus at 6am and reach school at 7.15am, after school I'm will reach home only at 2+. It's tiring. But still depends on individual parents, I'm those that want my kid to have a happy childhood. Furthermore my parents can coach them with their studies so less headache for me when I'm at work that's most impt.

I am planning to apply tomorrow, I am 1-2 kms from Tampines Primary (5 seats remaining) and Changkat Primary (14 seats remaining). Seems both would go for balloting. Any suggestions which one should I pick?

we are SC and 1 km from SJI, ACSP and ACSJr.

Just looking at the numbers, we registered in ACSJr cos it had 73 places for phase 2C compared to 32 in ACSP. Also looking at the no of applicants in the last few years, it looked like ACSJr got higher chance? cos looking at one map, there are not many residential areas within 1km from ACSJr, and I’m guessing that there won’t be >73 SC within 1 km???
ACSP only 32 places and there seems to be a lot more residential areas around 1km from it. So I’m thinking higher chance of >32 SC within 1km?
Strangely at the end of today, ACSP still not fully filled… guess that’ll change tomorrow when ppl start withdrawing to move around.
Am I right to say that?

We still took leave tomorrow and we are going to both ACSP and Jr to look at the numbers and see which has the best odds?

Well said..a colleague of mine shared the same sentiment on how she had to travel long to school n doesn't want her daughter to go thru Tt.

Travelling far it’s very tiring even for school nearby if u travel by bus. Cause bus will go round n round.
