Blur me just realized online registration has closed today. I thought I could register online tomorrow afternoon but now have to take last minute leave to go down to the school...!

I agree that balloting is too stressful and it’s much wiser to avoid it at all costs no matter how tempting it may be to try… Because all it takes is for a few more parents who also want to try their luck st the last minute on Friday afternoon and the whole situation will change!

Well said..a colleague of mine shared the same sentiment on how she had to travel long to school n doesn't want her daughter to go thru Tt.

The transport has improved since 20 years ago. With the extension of the mrt lines, taking public transport is so convenient. It is only a matter of a few short years that the child will take school bus. When the child is independent, she will take public transport to school.

Comparing 20 years ago transport to today's extensive network of mrt lines, it makes me wonder if you know mrt travels faster than car? 20 years ago, the transport network was so poor. Today, increased connectivity made transport network on mrt lines so convenient. In the long term, the child is not taking school bus till P6.

The new MOE kindergarten will be built in the school too.

Hi JenJen,

My ds preschool had an excursion trip for all K2 students at SengKang Green Primary School recently. I believe the students are introduced to the school’s facilities and experience for themselves a day in primary school by getting their own food using their own pocket money. After the excursion, I had been hearing good feedbacks from my ds.

I believe "Marketing" of the school is no longer targeting at the parents but also our children. It is important that they enjoy their 6 years of studies in the school.

Travelling far it's very tiring even for school nearby if u travel by bus. Cause bus will go round n round.

Travelling near doesn't mean the bus doesn't need to go round and round. In fact the time for those near the school may be same as those far away if the driver decides to use a big bus to fetch all the children living within 1 km from the school.

It allowed current K2-ers visit their premises to experience P1 life, i.e. joining the real primary sch gor gors and jie jies to queue up to buy canteen food, check out their classes, basketball courts, etc. My DS was very impressed with Sengkang Green and told me about it the whole week.

It depends on how you view it. My husband, hahaha, not me, is paying close to $200 for my daughter's bus transport fee to Marymount Convent.

For me, both my husband and I are willing to send my daughter to a school with niches in Rhythmic Gymnastic and Aesthetics (Dance & Arts). The experience my girl gets in the convent school is incomparable to normal neighbourhood school. My girl was reading one day and came across a phrase,\" The rich sent their daughters to convent schools (in the past).\" I had to remind her we are not rich and not poor. Just read with a pinch of salt. Otherwise she will think all her friends come from rich background.

I'm not affluent though there are affluent parents in Marymount convent and they are not the snobbish type. This is what I like

For me I have to consider 2 bus fare after 1yr which is $300 per mth. When I studied in Henry park last time n I have to wait for bus at 6am and reach school at 7.15am, after school I'm will reach home only at 2+. It's tiring. But still depends on individual parents, I'm those that want my kid to have a happy childhood. Furthermore my parents can coach them with their studies so less headache for me when I'm at work that's most impt.[/quote]I coach my child in her studies. I'm familiar with syllabus and know teaching my child by myself allows me to monitor her progress. Only Chinese will be outsourced. FYI, I'm not a SAHM but I still make time and energy to teach my child. No tv is my number 1 rule. Otherwise I will be addicted to the tv shows. Tell me, how many parents know how to teach their own children? I also believe in balance of play and study. When study, study smart, when play, play hard.
