"yes, above are the final numbers
102 vacancies
Total enrolled = 140 SC, plus 2 PR
Within 1 km : 60
1-2 km : 10
Outside 2 km : 70
No. of vacancies for balloting, SC outside 2 km = 32
70 SC outside 2 km : ballot for 32 vacancies
Balloting ratio risk = 2 : 1
(every 2 girls, ballot for one seat)"
But why is the MOE website saying that 143 ppl registered for 102 places? -
My girl is going to RGPS next year for primary one!
Thanks everyone for the help and advice. -

winnieng78:
CCA is compulsory P4 onwards, not from P1 to P3.
And how does the signing up of Cca happen?
Not many parents sign up their dd for CCa, in P1.
Because many P1 parents face transport issue : no school bus to bring their children for CCa, on Tuesday / Thursday.
Unless those lucky P1 students happen to have grandpa, grandma or maids, to fetch them there. -
xuanting:
Depends on what time your daughter board Sch bus, to school.
what is your pm session child's daily routine like? what time do they go to bed; what time do they eat lunch; do they shower before or after school; what's the best time for them to do their homework/revision, etc?
what about enrichment classes and other personal hobbies/ccas? somehow afternoon sessions feel longer than morning sessions although they're really the same...
ps: thanks to daddies and mommies for putting up with us nervous hijackers and for being so generous with your time and information!
Then work backwards the time from there.
Example
A) some children attend student care centre.
I) attend student care centre, very near Rgps.
Some kids attend \"Out of the Box\" student care centre, opposite Hillcrest road.
Children arrive at this student care very early, 7 + am.
So, the kids often wake up around 6 + am.
Means at night, they must sleep latest : 9 pm, in order to wake up fresh next morning 6+ am.
Early next morning, Parents fetch them to student care, drop them off at student care, before proceed to work.
At \"Out of the Box\" student care : 2 types of charges -
- one just provide food + homework supervision, but no tuition.
- another provide food + tuition offered.
(Heard that the charges for the package that include tuition, are ex)
If parents opt for the programme that offers tuition -
Then the kids follow a daily regular routine of tuition in subjects, set by the student care.
Who are the kids in this student care ?
Besides Rgps students, also got other students from (MGS, SCGS, a few Nanyang kids, some ACS boys)
Rgps school bus will come and pick these children up from this student care at designated time, go to school.
Ii) attend student care centre, near their homes.
Example
Some pupils stay in Hougang.
Their parents drop their kids off at the student care, located in Hougang.
Eg : Cherie Hearts student care.
Then, parents arrange for Rgps school bus to pick up their daughter daily from Cherie Hearts student care at a designated time, to go to school.
In Hougang -
there is more than one student care (Cherie Hearts)
Parents can pick and choose, ask about -
- costs per month ?
- can bathe or cannot bathe there ?
- can nap there or not ?
- examine the premises of student care, check is it clean & cosy ?
- what quality of food do they serve ?
is the porridge served diluted or watery ?
what ingredients added inside ? enough nutrients inside food ?
if your dd hungry, ask to eat another portion, is it allowed ? are they generous or stingy on food serving ?
- any rowdy, naughty pupils there or any bullies around bully P1 kids ?
Search carefully, until can find one that you feel comfortable with.
So, doesn't mean that parents die die can only look for student care, near Rgps.
No.
Parents can still find student care near their homes instead, whichever housing neighborhood they live in, so long as can arrange for a school bus to pick up their dd, go to school.
(Hougang is just an example illustrated)
B) children who stay at home, do not need to go to student care.
Often, these pupils have either grandparents or maids to look after them at home, while their parents go to work.
What time Do kids wake up ?
Anytime from 8 am to 9.15 am, depend on what time they sleep at night.
By 9.30 am, they should have breakfast, be at their desk do homework, or revise their school work on lessons that had been taught, or whatever daily timetable their parents had established for them.
Different week day at home : revise different subject
Eg : Monday (revise Chinese, bec Tues got Chinese tingxie or test)
Tuesday (revise English, bec Wed got Grammar plus spelling)
Wednesday (revise Maths, bec Thurs got some hands on work to do for Maths, on the topic : Length)
Thursday : maybe Piano Tr come your house, teach your daughter learn piano at home, prepare her for Grade X ABRSM piano exam.
Friday : maybe Chinese tuition Tr hired come your house to teach your dd, since Rgps P1 already start Higher Chinese. (HCL)
In order to continue HCL from P1 to P6 all the way, Chinese must be strong. Else, drop out half way, back to Normal Chinese.
Etc.
All our nine Different P1 classes, got different Timetable.
At home in the morning, After Do some desk bound work, time for them to eat lunch, bathe, pack up their school bag (follow school timetable what to bring for that day), get ready to board School bus.
What time to bathe, what time to eat lunch : will depend on what time the school bus come to fetch your daughter, to school.
Example
My dd classmate stay in Seletar Hill.
School bus fetch her early to school, around 11 am, everyday.
Means she must start to makan lunch, latest by 10.15 am plus bathe, get ready school bus.
Time is very tight for her.
But another of my dd classmate stay in a condo nearby : Altsworth Park.
Her dd board school bus : 12.05 pm, reach school 12.20 pm.
So her dd start to makan lunch latest 11.15 am, she eat very fast.
A fast eater, bathe, wear school uniform, tie up hair nearly, get ready for school.
Evening : school dismiss 6.30 pm.
Pupils reach home around 7 pm, some later around 7.30 pm
They have a long day in school. (From 12.30 assembly, until 6.30 pm)
It is very difficult to do much at night.
If you want tuition for your dd, have to be done in the morning, after they wake up fresh, can focus better.
Not at night after they come home around 7 + pm, very tired.
After makan dinner, the night is very short.
9 pm comes swiftly.
So come Sat / Sun, usually they can go swimming, cycling, or ballet, Art drawing or violin or other enrichment lessons.
