      janet_lee88:
Teachers in branded schools need not teach much....their students has been taught by tutors.

But in non popular schools, parents feel that when their kids going to school, teaching is responsibility of teachers and schools. If the mothers are not locals, all the more they will feel that way.
Even in non popular schools, even if mothers not local dont know how to teach, they still send their kids to tuition centres.

      Example
kids whose mothers are Korean or Filipino enrolled in Macpherson primary school : Yes, they dont know how to teach their kids Chinese, but saw some of their kids enrolled into Chinese tuition centres in Zhi Ying (Marine Parade)

Also see some children from Haig Girls primary enrolled into Wang lao shi tuition centre (Katong), whose mothers are foreigners.
When lessons end, their mothers (non Singaporeans, foreigners), fetch them home.

At Kumon (Novena), many Indian children are learning kumon Chinese there. Their mothers (Some of these ladies from Chenai, their husb work in sg) fetch them home, after school end

Thus, regardless of popular or non popular schools, kids whose parents or mothers non local dont know how to teach, many are attending tuition.

So just because their mothers are non local, don't know how to teach bec mother never study before in Sg, doesn't mean their kids are disadvantaged. They are just as competitive, as any local mothers here, who can teach. But whether local mothers got time to teach own kids or not, is another matter.
In fact some of these non local mothers are very competitive : asking people around in their neighbourhood which are the \"gooder\" schools in Sg, how to get in, huh ?
Do not under estimate these non local mothers.

As long as their family (non local mothers) got $ to send kids for tuition, issue can be resolved.

          Chief,

If you want to move some of these comments over, can help to create another new thread entitled \"Positive Suggestions from the public, to improve P1 Registration process\", because the other bitterness thread since 2006 \"opinions of the primary registration system\" is nothing, except persecution of all 2A folks, until become extinct.

A lot of people very sian now, with that bitterness thread directed at 2A folks. The only substance there : just keep beating round & round the bush focus on one thing : abolish 2A. Only then they will be satisfied

Actually some of the positive suggestions brought fwd by our parents in this forum, quite good.
If you move the comments from here into that bitter opinion thread, the good pointers raised by some parents, will be camoauged by the bitterness there.
          Example
Your suggestion that you raise on how to improve the withdrawal process, to me is good.
I wouldn't want to see your good point raised, to be camoflauged or covered by by the envy, anger and bitterness there.

            hi all,

Just to update. seems that some schs are probably "having issues" maybe exceed by 1 child etc. MOE is still not able to update the list of schools conducting balloting. Called MOE ask why no info on website and was informed that MOE still waiting for submission of data from schs. Some schs are not ready with the data yet.

                      Hi,

I am asking on behalf of my aunt. Wondering if anyone has the breakdown of Jiemin Pri Sch in Yishun? Saw from MOE website that there are 71 places but with 82 students. Anyone has any info if SC within 1km need to ballot?

                      TIA!
