Teachers assigned to teach EG... should train these teachers to be discreet & not make an EG child uncomfortable
You mean the teachers who have EGs in their class? Some don't even know they have such kids, right?

Cannot celebrate. Dd still weak after last Friday episode. 2nd time to watch her suffering in hospital. Practically have to assure doctor to allow her to go home yesterday at 5 pm. Tomorrow must go through the long Q&A. Sigh...

Sorry I have been missing something? What is happening to your dd? Nothing serious I hope?
Sigh...Dd was sick since Friday morning. As normal I was too busy with work to even notice. None of us had any inkling that she was sick. She kept very quiet until Saturday morning, she needs to go for her religious class. I thought her fever was making her tummy weak. Late Saturday afternoon, dh brought her to GP. She was given a jab (big mistake) to stop her pain. But the tummy pain still persist, so was advise to go A&E. That was when the nightmare began. 3 blood test, X-tray, tummy scan, mucus swap, urine & waste test. Dd even told us that she dreamt she was floating in the air and spin round and round. Ds said NDE, I was telling ds to zip his mouth up. She's okay now. Busy drawing. I think it's a way God tells me to slow down & be in my kids live. Force me to sit with dd doing nothing but attend to her needs. I know she can draw well but never seen her in action before. So, now I have seen.....

Thanks for asking. She has recovered. Just weak and cannot afford to fall ill while recuperating.
Variance referring to individual catergory IQ score. Say for example VSI 140, PRI 120, then delta > 19, cannot calculate FSI.

You are right 19 is the highest for scaled score. But this is not the same as individual category score. Confusing hor

Never mind lah, what's important is we are happy with our kids

IQ report is for MOE only
Reading these, very headache. What are you all talking about?

Hope she is feeling better. But it is strange for her to fall so ill, hopefully you have found the cause or reason for the pain.
when your daughter is said to have asperger syndrome, do you take it as it is?

Would you be able to share how was your daughter testing done? Is it based on question and answer to parents, feedback from teachers, caretaker? How many different type of test did your daughter has to go through besides IQ test?
After KK had completed all the diagnostic tests, they compiled a report to conclude that my daughter she displayed behaviours typical in persons with Asperger’s syndrome.

                    She completed:
WPPSI-III (may be cannot be considered as IQ test???)
                    Vineland Adaptive Behavious Scales
Autism Diagnostic Obervation Schedule - Module 2
For WPPSI, she performed well for performance skils and processing speed (High Average) but (Low Average) for verbal skills.

I remember that I saw 4 graphs but then I did not get a copy but the summary report was based on 3 areas? Cannot quite remember the details ias t was 3-4 years ago.

Just to share for the benefit of parents who also has children being labelled as AS. First of all, my girl had demonstated slowness in interaction and social skill. She wandered around in class (since nursery) and attention span was short. She just did things on her own without interaction in school though she talked quite a lot at home. She was often being teased by her peers because of her odd behaviour. She liked to line things up in a row since age 3. She was also very rigid in her thinking and bahaviour and very stubborn.

When I knew that she is a AS child, then I understand the unique behavious or so called gifted (just a little bit) behaviour demonstrated when she was younger. She could hum a twinkle twinkle little star and happy birthday song tune when she was only a few months old. She could talk at the age of 10 months and she could do a 100+ puzzle when she was only 3.5 years old. After that, she changed to a different child when she would cry when she went to a crowded place and then the nightmare started…Her intellectual ability seems to stop during her nursery and Kindergarden days. I decided to do something about it when she was in nursery and waiting time to get tested in KK was long. It took KK at least 1.5 years to complete the whole test which included occupational therapy, eye test, hearing test, speech therapy and those I mentioned as above.
Eventhough she was in K2, she hardly knew any english and chinese words and also hardly know the words as she was not learning in school and at school because of her behavioral problem. I sent her to Tian Hsien for Chinese and strange enough she demonstrated some talent in learning Chinese . She hardly knew the words earlier but she could learn the chinese spelling (two words or a sentence) by just writing it out one or twice. I remember that when she was in K2 3rd term, suddenly she started to recognise some english words and could start reading slowly. Prior to that, she jsut could not remember english words but could manage to learn chinese words.

KK actually suggested for me to enrol her to pathlight school before her WPPSI-III test but I refused because I could not accept it that she was an austistic child. It was only after the IQ test that they grouped her as "AS" and concluded that she was fit to go to a mainstream school.

I was a nightmare of 3 years for me before I got the final report to suggest that she could be enrol to a mainstream school. I do believe that her case was a mild one but I also accepted the fact that she is not a normal child.

To add on, now she is a P3 girl who behaves more like a normal child. She seems to have lost her superb visual memory power as highlighted by KK in the WPPSI as she progresses to becoming like a normal child. The only "intelligence" that I can spot now is her ability in mathematics which i talked to a teacher who is also a mensa member that it is common for a AS child to be good in Maths. She is poor in comprehension and composition skill because of a lack of creativity.

Thanks, snowyqueen for sharing. Did DD go for any intervention or social skills classes?

NO, because I refused to accept that she is not a normal child. It was selfish of me but I shared in this forum before that I managed to somehow correct her bahaviour by drilling her to perform academically. Strange enough, once she has confidence in her school work and with the support and encouragement of her IJ classmates and teachers, she managed to excel in her studies and slowly improve to be a sensible child. She is still stubborn in her bahaviour and sometimes rigid in thinking but what really suprised me was that she could still manage to do well in studies given her problem. Of course, I must say that I also put in tremendous effort to ensure she has the confidence to perform in her school work i,e personal coaching and attending enrichment courses. Encouragement and being able to be recognised and praised is very important to her as she has low self-esteem.

It is hard to describe how i feel having come so far. I was tearing when I attended her last year school award ceremony for which she came first in class. My feeling was never the same as other mothers because seeing her to receive an award was something like a dream for me and something i dare not think when she was younger. I never imagine she could come this far as she is a AS child. Of course, she still has alot to learn and a lot of things to cope but the most important thing for a mother's perspective is that she is progressing and growing and improving year by year. At least I do not have to cry quietly in the middle of the night before and asked why was my child born in this way? Why can't my child be just the same and normal as others?
