Hi emebabe
I think I 'll be packing my girl’s food as well.I 'm not sure she knows how to buy from the canteen and she’s picky about her food too .She’s my first child going to primary school , so I feel more ’ Kan ‘cheong’.I hope she knows how to take care of herself and her belongings . She can be very blur! and too happy go lucky.
I think catechism classes are conducted in school and the non Catholic children do not have to baptise and become Catholics . It’s your choice . -
Hi, my advice would be to let your child learn to buy food in canteen for the first 2 weeks as there will be senior pupils helping your child to navigate in the canteen. I was worried how my dd will cope too but I have put my worries to rest after hearing from my dd how her senior helped her in school. There are P5 girls to help the P1 girls in the first week. Let your child learn the skill of being independent in a primary school setting. You can let your girls bring packed food to school for recess after the first or second week in Term 1.

Hi thanks for the tip .Better to learn to buy food while there’s somebody to help. The faster she learns to be independent the better for mummy . Then I won’t worry as much.
Will just let her bring a small favourite snack, then. -
Thank you
, felt so relieved after registering DD in phase 2C at MCS and positive comments on the sch too.
One thing I want to share is it is very important for parents to attend Orientation with their daughters in Nov. Parents need to verify and update data on Pupil Particulars, Edusave Fund and GIRO application on that day. You also need to fill up a dental form. You will be given a form to indicate if you want your child to attend Catechism class if she is not a Catholic. Catholic compulsory to attend. My child is not Catholic but I allow her to attend Catechism class. She has learnt a lot. If you chose not to opt for Catechism for your girl, then your girl will attend Value Education class instead of Catechism class.
Bring a pen along. Orientation day can buy books from bookshop but I choose to order online. Uniform vendor will be coming down but the queue is very long. My advice is you visit the shop that sells uniform and PE attire on another day or you must have a lot of patience to join the uniform queue. Bus operators will also come down on Orientation Day. Sale of uniform and transport arrangement was done in canteen for last year's Orientation in a systematic way.
Orientation is for parents to better understand the school processes and to seek clarification. Information on School practice and expectations will be shared too during Orientation. That's why it is better for the school to update the new parents
Hi Sembgal,
Thank you for the information above. May I know why there are two types of uniform? Pinafore and Blouse/Skirt? -
P1 and P2 wear pinafore. The blouse and skirt are for other levels.
Currently, my dd wears pinafore only once a week. I bought 2 sets pinafore previously. I think purchase 1 set will be sufficient as the rest of the 4 days have to be in PE attire. -

Hi Sembgal,
Do you mean that I have to purchase more PE attire and they have PE for so many days in a week? How many sets of PE attire should I buy? -
Just wondering why there is PE so many days in a week? How long is each PE session.
When does swimming start ?
My daughter loves any physical activity rather than sit down all the time . She has so much energy. So I think would suit her fine . -
my girl end up not wearing her pinafore except the very first day of p1 as her only non pe day falls on her cca day which requires her to wear pe attire. May consider buying a bigger pinafore so that she can wear for p2 as well.
May i ask a question? I did not go thru primary sch in singapore.i remember my teachers used to make me memorize time table. My girl’s Teacher is teaching multiplication and division now for p1 without teaching her the timetable. When will they be asked to memorize the timetable? Or there is no need for that?
Thks! -

Hi mutree,
Do you mean that your girl only wear pinafore once and thereafter pe attire? What is the difference between pe and cca? Is cca optional?
