My ex DD classmate scored well in her prelims. But comes PSLE, panicky mode. She rewrote her compo 3 times. At the end of her paper, she informed that she was somewhat still writing out of point. Guess she did not think or plan carefully. So from a expected 250 and above scoreline she obtained only 242. Not too sure wat other mistakes she made but anything can happen.

PSLE is not the last exam kids sit for…there are many more to come.
it’s a pity there is so much emphasis placed on it and along with it all the stress and pressure to get into choice secondary schools. but ask yourself, which employer cares about your PSLE results?
parents get so burnt out helping/accompanying their kids prepare for PSLE. a friend of mine made sure her son was well prepared for psle…to the extent of getting 2 tutors…but come secondary school (IP), her son had no more tuition and was completely lost. -
One way to score full marks is Synthesis and Transformation. Let the child practice on many past years of prelim papers on the section Synthesis & Transformation. Analyse the mistake together with the child. Do note that one missing word or one misspelt word or wrong grammar usage can result in the child to lose 2 marks for a question. Yes, one silly mistake even though the sentence structure is correct will result in 0 mark being awarded. Not worth it right? So let your child practise on past 3 years PSLE prelim English paper on Synthesis and Transformation to get that guaranteed 10 marks.

Note: If your P6 child has younger siblings, remember not to neglect the younger siblings' studies. It will be too late for you to concentrate on SA2 revision with them. The time used in Term 4 should be spaced out equally for all your children. If you focus too much on the PSLE child, the younger siblings will have lots of catching up work to do if they didn't do well for Term 4 tests/exams. -
Synthesis and transformation is 2 marks per question…to score that full mark, the kids have to be very careful…don’t forget the stressful PSLE environment, it’s hard…one missing comma, letter or word, either 0.5 mark, 1 mark or 2 marks gone.

One silly mistake, 2 marks gone for that question. Not half or 1 mark deduction. -

MCQ easier to score than S&T. Cloze also can score as well as LCjanet_lee88:

Synthesis & Tranformation is the section either get 2/10 or get 8/10 or 10/10. Mostly it is the silly careless mistake that result in students to get 2/10 or 4/10.

Remind the kids to be careful and focus on their own paper. Don't look around. Even if they did well for prelims, do not be over confident as they will let their guard down if the PSLE exam is a little easier. -

My gf's ds gets 90s for his Prelim results. If he perform consistently well, do you think he can get at least 260 for PSLE? -
