Q&A - PSLE English

Kangkangteo:
1) \"is\" because the 'two copper coins' refers to a single amount, not individual coins. Contrast: \"Two copper coins are in her hand.\"slmkhoo:
1) Two copper coins....are OR is....a lot of money to a poor widow.
are is my answer....but y they have given is?
2) The team members practice playing basketball three times a week. They also go swimming three times a week.
...................................as often as ......................
:imdrowning: :imdrowning:
2) The team members practise playing basketball and go swimming as often as three times a week.
This is not a good equivalent sentence as it implies that the maximum frequency is 3 times a week while the original sentences state '3 times a week' as a definite frequency. But I can't think of another way of doing it.
Also note that 'practise' as a verb is spelled with 's' not 'c' in British English.
Is this acceptable?
The team members practise playing basketball as often as go swimming three times a week.
Doesn't sound right. -

(3) fewer. Buns are countable, so 'lesser' would be incorrect. (1) and (2) would not be correct as you need a comparative term. Please help and explain.

Questions.
1. Mary is as tall as I.
2. Mary is as tall as me.
Which is correct?
(1). If you expand the sentence, it would read \"Mary is as tall as I (am tall). The pronoun should be a subject pronoun.
3.Mary is taller than I.
4.Mary is taller than me.
Which is correct?
(3). Same reason as above.
Thanks.
