may i suggest that perhaps a "free" creation of new thread could be given for every X number of posts by a member? sometimes, it’s just not possible to use old existing threads for breaking news.

How about like the bonus home thread, if the thread starter managem to garner sufficient reply posts and generate discussions, they will be rewarded with ks points ? While users are charged to start a topic can deter people, if you would want people to generate interesting discussion, is it possible to do so via rewarding the thread starter for making the thread a success ? Eg the baking thread or daiso thread.

          Just discussing.

Thanks for the feedback. We have already started looking into the possibility of waiving the fee for those who have more than 1000 posts (ie. the Grandmasters). Our assumption is that our old birds will create new threads more responsibly :). I will update when this is confirmed.

              Another thought…

Is it easier to house keep duplicate threads or house keep off topic posts ?
If you curb creating of new threads by blur newbies, you may face them creating posts in topics they thought are relevant or simply any existing topics.
Similarly is it easier to remove spammers new topic thread or posts embedded in existing essential topic threads ?

                Good question.
I would think cleaning posts within threads seems more tedious

That is a good question. As long as the community actively report spam posts, it does not matter if the post is in a new thread or in an existing thread. The amount of work we do in terminating the spammer and his posts is the same... at a click of a button.

Yes, better waive please. Otherwise, this forum will just be conquered by home threads for a closed group of KGMs/Counsellors to chitchat abt personal stuffs under the sun and no newsy/hot button topics to ‘stimulate’ some nomadic but very articulate members and to entice new blood (silent lurkers) to join in the discussion.

The latter will be marginalised over time and quit KSP.

Just worry you accidentally click remove thread instead of remove spam post ! Lol. :siam:
