Pat's Schoolhouse
-
Hi mummies,
i am also considering Pat’s schoolhouse at Jubilee Park for my 2yo and would greatly appreciate any feedback and comments on this school.
i spoke to the acting principal and she sounded very nice. However, i did not get to speak to the teachers as they were occupied with some program when i went to visit them. Is is true that the quality of the teachers are not as good as other pat’s schoolhouse since they were "taken over" by Pat’s? As the school fees are considered expensive to me, i would like to get some assurance that the money would be well spent.
Any mummies with children in P1 and formerly from Pat’s can share how your kids transit to P1?
Many thanks in advance and Cheers! -
Seems like quite a few at Halifax and good comments on dedicated teachers.
Anyone can share on Lim Ah Pin branch please?
1. I’ve been there to check out but could only speak with the principal. Could not go into the classrooms to see nor speak with the teachers. Are they kind not fierce?
2. Can parents whose kids are on full day share if it’s taxing or repetitive for their children please? The principal said she has a few on full day and said it’s not repetitive for the children as they do not remember much of what they learn so it’s not a problem.
3. Full day care - Food (menu) at pat’s? Nap time at Pat’s? Wonder if they get to nap 1 to 2 hours in between AM and PM sessions.
I was impressed with Pat’s as the principal speaks very well and I saw tapoles painted on the children’s faces, drawings, props etc and seems like a fun environemet. Pat is not really convenient for a non-drive parent like me and it’ll be a challenge with daily ferryings (rainy seaasons dreaded). Considering Agape at SK but read the teachers are fierce. Witnessed a couple of episodes myself. So what if they are a stone throw away. I want my son to be happy in a place where he spends 12 hours in.
Ok enough of my story. Sorry about that. Appreciate any advise from all. Thanks much. -
hi…
hope i’m not too late on my comments on PAT’s Schoolhouse.
my gal is currently in PATS Halifax and has been there since playgroup.
b4 choosing PATS, being the lazy me only went to Lorna Winston for a view. Didn’t like the location cos its too deep in and taking schoolbus is out for her at this young age. I didn’t went into details like curriculum etc with the principal at PATS cos i chose it for the location - ez to fetch her to/from school for logistical reasons
My gal was v shy & timid and she took a full year to get used to school. Even by Dec she was crying by the time she is anywhere near the school.
i contemplated changing school, thinking it was suitable for her plus she’s always falling sick (every 3 weeks on avg). Went to see a montessori near my place but didn’t like their teaching mtd. And thinking of the trauma of adapting for her again is something i don’t even wanna think abt.
Me in my ignorance, had placed the blame of her falling sick etc on the school but when i actually open my eyes n ears thru what i saw & feedback fm other friends, i realise i was being too narrow-minded.
During her nursery year (2nd year), we hv seen a change in her.
She’s grown more confident (tho still shy), fantastic articulation (for a 4yr old) and great imagination & creativity (tons betta than me).
The school principal actually know all (or most) of the students’ names, so does most of the teachers. We can comunicate with the teachers thru SMS or phonecalls (which i try to aviod unless a v big issue) . There is so much personal touch that i felt very safe having my girl there.
And she’s actually looking forward to starting her K1 class this week.
Frankly, i couldn’t ask for more… -
Anyone send your child to these schools? Any feedback on the teachers and curriculum?
Is it better than MMI, Kinderland, Cherie Hearts? -

Hi ALL,
Don’t seem to have much feedback from last post.
Trying my luck… anyone have experience with Pat’s @ Jubilee?? -
Hi,
I transferred both my ds to Pat’s Schoolhouse at the beginning of this year, from another Pat’s affiliated childcare because they were bought over by a large consortium.
My elder son has always been a little bit shy especially in new environments - in the previous childcare, it took him 6 months all in all to get use to the concept of going to a school daily. So dh and I were prepared for another long period of transition. To our surprise, we found remarkable changes after only ONE day - ds1 is much more confident, and articulate very well (used several ‘big’ words which we had never heard from him before), and were clearly very enthusiastic in what was taught in class (told us he wanted to visit Africa next time to see the animals in the wild =D).
I am also very pleased with the Chinese teachers there, as they make it a point to offer different perspectives of his behaviour throughout the day, not only during Chinese lessons/projects.
ds2 has also started to use new vocabs in his articulation, and had also managed to acquire new ‘intonations’ in his speech as well, coupled with creative facial expressions to emphasise his message.
DH and I really cannot ask for more, and felt even more certain that our decision to switch them to Pat’s is a positive move. Sure some of these changes might probably be attributed to other factors, but the changes have been consistent and we are seeing how the new environment - teachers, school, friends, curriculum - is drawing out the best out of our children even after 2 weeks in school.
I hope this helps.[/quote] -
Hi Garang Mum,
Are you in Pat’s Jubilee?
How old is ur kids? Full Day?
How much it cost? Heard beri exp.
Sorry for so many qns? -
The current, year 2009, principle is not well organized. Doing things in a
very messy way. She may be good in talking but no good in managing.
Previous staffs are better than the current ones.
In my personal opinion, the fee paid is not justifiable. Choose an average
fee childcare centre and save the extra money for other enrichment
programme over the weekends. Then you will see your child learn more
as more exposure. A child will pick up automatically when you expose
him/her more.
