Some tuition centres will start sec 1 preparatory course from 8 nov onwards. Why don't u explore more and let DC occupies their time . 6.5 weeks is a long time from now.

it's been a week since the last paper of PSLE...I think it is not advisable to slack for too long or it will be hard to ramp up again.

Then they can't say they didn't have a decent break, and they are more likely to be enthusiastic (or at least grumble less) when school starts. Not that we should let them sleep till noon and sit in front of a screen for 3 mths, but being gainfully occupied doesn't mean having lessons or doing worksheets. Reading widely, learning a skill or hobby, sports, doing some volunteering, organising family events etc can engage them and teach them things without seeming like 'school'. There should be a bit of warm-up a couple of weeks before school starts, but no need to start too early.

I notice that you all parents are so productive n on even after PSLE.

I think I am the only lazy parent. Everytime an exam ends (be it external or internal), all my kids do is nothing but NUA until new term starts.

              Terrible mummy, rite?

I was burnt out after son's psle...I kept to my promise to 'play all he wanted'...but still have to bathe, rest his eyes after 30 minutes of playing...after 1 week, he couldn't take it anymore...complained it was very boring. got him to swim and tidy up his room. his math tuition to prepare for sec 1 resumed in dec.

I feel that the kids shd have their break of doing nothing before they embark on another 6 years journey. reading for leisure is fine and other hobbies but sec 1 preparation kind of kills their well deserved break.

I fully agree. Education is a long process. Despite how they fare, they have put in their efforts and i am keeping to my words of letting her have a totally guilt free break and doing what she wants without interference. :please:

I am the same. The kids are still busy with their sports (lots of competitions during the hols), but they don't go near anything academic. They are pretty much free to do anything they want (with eye breaks if glued to electronics!) and they always seem to be able to find things to do. Occasionally, they attend a baking class or something like that at the CC nearby.
