micekyhmh,
So gymnastics is a kind of enrichment, which we have to pay at P1? They will select those potential and slot in CCA?
Oh my gal is now is prime gym, I was hoping I can stop her in Prime Gym once she start P1. Look like I have to let her continue...mickeyhmh:
BigDevil - Aqua Fiesta is play water time! unless your kid had been selected for some of the competitions.
i3mum - they do have gymnastics as enrichment. I think they will look out for potentials & offer them a slot in the CCA/school team. Maybe not in P1 tho'. Haven't heard anything about their track&field so far. -
I know track & Field last yr did very well. My friend’s gal even broke the record according to my boy. Yes, previously Mdm Heng shared with us is your child can sign up those activities as enrichment then by end of p1, the coach will tell you how’s yr child performing, if got potential good to stay on p2 then P3 usually training n going for competition. Like i mentioned, usually they will take it up as CCA in p4. However, i know the most important yr child must enjoy the cca or enrichment, encourage them to try out to see they like.
This year Aqua Fiesta according to the letter given is different the form teacher will follow the class around as the classes are allocated with time slot. It seem the same like the 1st years 2 years ago. -
Hi Moonflowe, thanks for the info. Ok now I understand, CCA starts in P4. True, have to let them enjoy

Anyone has experience in Gymnastic CCA ? What’s the time commitment required to do it as a CCA ? I noticed the gym was reserved for the school practice from Tues to Friday 2 - 5 pm. Does it mean that the school team will practice 4 times / week ?

Hi … anyone knows if there is an affiliated Secondary School for the boys in NYPS? Naturally the Girls have NYGH as a choice. What about the boys? Where do the boys from NYPS go for their Secondary education?

NYPS does not have an affiliated secondary school for boys.
However, since it is a SAP school, u can use the HCL bonus points for HCI. -

Most definitely. And if you still want your child to get into NYPS, then get him to work hard and shoot for GEP.[/quote]
Hi BigDevil,
Any idea the hit rate for GEP among NYPS themselves? How many new GEPers are from non-NYPS ?
thanks -
HyperKiasu:
Sorry, HyperKiasu. My DD only in P1 this year...still too early to think about GEP. :oops:Hi BigDevil,

NYPS each year intake is 390 (13 classes x 30 students)
From P4 onwards, GEP classes usually number around 4 classes ( 4 x 25 students) = 100 GEPpers, while mainstream incl HA are 10 classes x 40 = 400
so total cohort size is around 480 to 500 from P4 to P6
the nett increase of 80 to 100 students are not all GEP, some are mainstream students transferred from elsewhere
I reckon NYPS own students made up at least 50% to 60% of the GEP cohort in NYPS -

I can tell u it's < 50% for 2009 GEP intake.
But why is past staistics important, HyperKiasu?
It's just an old statistics.
Is it a gauge for future performance?
If NYPS can consistently do 50 - 60% for GEP;
That's way above the national average!
then ALL parents should endeavour to enrol their kids into NYPS,
for laughing out loud!
