Any parents received the timing for meeting with the teachers? Do we go direct to the classroom?

I've not received anything at all. Do the boys need to report to school on Fri for classes at all? I understand, the boys are supposed to be at the PTM with us.

Does the school have a fix day for weekly notification? It's confusing not knowing which day to expect it.

My boy was given a timing yesterday. I think there'll be classes on Fri bcos there is no notification from the teachers. The boys need to be with us during the PTM however I heard my boy said that the PTM starts at 12.30pm which they are still having lesson. We are wondering how the boys are going to join their parents during that time![/quote] :?

Havent gotten any timing yet. And ds told me to go between 2.15-3.30pm. I won't be able to make it any earlier, coz on half day leave. MSHS don't seem to dissapate their info properly.

One peeve I have is the Geography notes. The photocopied notes have certain sections that are so dark, you can't even read anything. And mind you, these are notes we pay for.

Ask your ds to look at the list on the notice board in the classroom. He may find the time allocated to the students for the PTM. As for the Geog notes, I agreed with you. Some sections are so... dark that I decided to throw them aside and asked my boy to read his own guide book before the CT. Furthermore, my boy told me that the Geography's teacher skipped some topics in the textbook and asked them to do the workbook which contained questions that the teacher has not teached. So now, we don't know whether these topics that the teacher skipped are included in the syllabus.

My DS said Fri classes dismissed at 12.05pm. Our PTM timing is 2.50-3pm. Form teacher has extended 2 min for the 30 parents coming. I hope parents keep to their 10min time slot. There was a PTM I attended at kids' pri sch where a parent took a whole 45min to talk of her grievances.. I had to walk up to break it up and the teacher even thanked me for it cos she didn't feel good to stop the parent! They should make separate appointments for such things and not waste other parents' time.

DS also mentioned Geography teacher never got to finish teaching her topics before CT. So he found many questions in CT that were not even taught to them. This seems unfair. I heard many failed this subject. Seems Chemistry is another subject that many didn't do well. Is it because the questions were tough or these subjects are still new to them? I hope this is just a \"welcome to sec 1\" type of wake up paper. Hope subsequent tests won't be this tough.

I am definitely going to bring up the Geog notes on Friday.

The teachers somehow don’t seem to be teaching much - I wonder if they are taking the literal approach to Teach Less, Learn More. If they are, they are definitely getting some concept wrong here!

Skyjuice, your PTM timing is 2.50-3pm? How come mine is too? I wonder if the teacher got the timing right?

Oops! Made a mistake. Mine is 3.50pm.

I wonder can the Form, who is only the Math teacher, know the boys well. DS says it seems he doesn't even know all their names since he only comes in a few times a wk, given that many subjects.

Hmm...you got a point there. One thing I know though, the form/Math teacher dont have very good handwriting. I have to decipher some of his words. Can qualify to be a dr based on handwriting.

Sidetrack a little, I saw Singtel's ad today. Free Macbook when you sign up for broadband. Today last day. ARRGGHH!!!

Did anybody check on the HMT during the PTM? I spoke to my boy form teacher this afternoon and he said that it is not easy to take up HMT. The boys must not only have excellent results in Chinese but also all the other subjects. I wanted to check with the Chinese teacher but he was not in school today. I don’t understand why students in other Sec sch such as VS can try for 1 year on HMT but not MSHS. My cousin’s boy is in VS and he is allowed to try 1 year on HMT even though he did not study HMT in his primary school!
