      Hi,

My DD got her CA1 results and that kinda depressed me a lot. The papers were st pretty tough especially maths. How to prepare her for PSLE? She is already busy with school and homework etc. She is also hard working and practices a lot. But the results don't show this. Results fluctuate from 70s to 90s. I dont know how to stabilise these marks. Thanks to everyone who can help
Hi happyluckymom, I do not have any solutions to keep your child's results consistent, however, I would say for her to score between the range of 70 and 90..it considered quite good, no? All she needs to do is to continue her learning style and I am sure she will do well in her PSLE.
I think some marks are deducted for being stressed at tests/exams or perhaps, not very careful and etc.

      Cheers!

DS definitely needs help with his English. Didn't do that well for CA1, despite sending him to 2 English enrichment/tuition centres.. (hehe.. mummy so kiasu..) Any input on how we can help our children improve their English grades is very much appreciated 😄

most schools' teachers would use the newspapers as a \"teaching tool\" for english, for vocab, cloze and comprehension.

not to worry to much as the PSLE English paper is always much easier than the School Exam papers. in fact, is usually the easiest subject among the 4.

It’s my pleasure, happyluckymom. 😄 Continue to encourage your child.
I have my daughter enrolled in creative writing at madhatters next week.

Oh really? I did hear normally the papers at Prelim are at the higher standard. This is to train the children and let them know that papers are not always a breeze.

I chanced upon this book from Popular - Approaching English through News by Diana Tham. The level is for Sec 1 but the news in there specially written to encourage children's interest in newspaper articles. They are quite refreshing, educational and interesting. This book motivates children to think critically and creatively. I have my daughter picks a newspaper article that she likes to read and then we attempt the questions and exercises together in line with the article. Personally, I find it's a good book to invest.

                Cheers!

u're welcome . It's true, heard that fr many, many students after English PSLE exam. they said \"Easy\".
Some of my gal's classmates felt so bored that they even \"sleep\" during the paper. Unlike Maths paper, whereby they were struggling for time to finish.

Also , u can see from the 5-yrs PSLE Exam papers.

try to score more from the Compo writing and Oral.

                        Hi,

My dotty is one of those push herself too hard type, since kindergarten. I'm worried that she is wilting under pressure. Her math teacher says she is a bit with drwawn in class compared to P5 (same teacher). she did not do to her usual level in the tests (test 1 and ca1) . Feel her confidance level is dipping...

Moms and dads - any suggestions? :?:

one thing is she is sleeping late, even after she is in bed she takes time to fall asleep. Trying to get her to go to bed b4 10, let the home work be damned

Na - i am not the typical kiasu mom, no caning, no pressure as to how much she should score, why she did this wrong, etc . But maybe unconciously i am putting a pressure, expectation?? :stupid:
