Hi remember me? I’m a current sec 2 student who wanted to transfer into SOTA at the start of this year but missed the date by one week…

Anyway I still haven’t given up hehe I’m going to try to transfer in during December this year for VA.Just wanted to ask if there are any other sec 2s doing the same as me? and to current sota students who have gone for auditions before, what can I expect and what advice do you have to give because the school website wasnt very clear about the details for transferring for current sec sch students

Does anyone know if it is nec for child to have gone thu Junior Academy in order to be successful at TA?

I contacted SOTA about JA and was told that it is only thru school nomination and that it is not necessary for success in TA. It is just to give the child an idea of what the school is about etc.
I contacted my child’s school about it and got conflicting info. The person in charge said that she was told that it is important as those who did not attend JA will not be successful at TA. And that my child can still try to go for JA next July/August (even tho I pointed out that the TA is in June). Confused.

Has anyone gotten into SOTA (specifically dance) without doing the Junior Academy in P5?

Your child’s school is wrong. JA is not compulsory and does not guarantee your child a place in SOTA.

Same!!! Except I'm trying to transfer in for visual arts in year 3 next year.. I still am not clear on details for the transfer and I'm scared I can't make it because even though my PSLE score was okay my current scores aren't good...anyway al the best also, hope we will get more details on the transfer soon

Hi!!! So glad to hear from someone who is going to the talent academy on this December. Same age too!!! I'm really scared that they will not accept transfers this year as there are no vacancies in SOTA... Fingers crossed :xedfingers: , hopefully there are vacancies for us to transfer! Anyway, good luck for your portfolio(for TA)! :rahrah:

Application opens on 1 Dec 2014. Application form and all supporting documents are to be submitted by 5pm on 8 Dec 2014. Shortlisted applicants will be informed via email by 11 Dec 2014, to attend the audition on 29 Dec 2014.

I’m still overseas when the application form closed (today) anyway for year 3 only the music stream is open and I can only do visual arts… Sooo looks like I’ll have to stay in my current school and continue getting bullied for another two years good luck to other applicants ^^
