Oh.. So there are NO Triple-Science classes in RI (Yr-5/6) now ?

Is this the case in all JCs now, since Medicine course no longer requires Triple Sciences as entry criteria ?

none of the A level Junior Colleges now offer Triple Science.

Raffles Institution, Hwa Chong JC, National JC, Victoria JC, Temasek JC, Dunman High, River Valley High, etc : no more Triple Science.

They tag Chemistry along, with either Physics or Bio.
This combination (Bio & Physics) is out in many JCs : not popular

the only place that offer Triple Science now : is NUS High.

some one inside MOE ministry led & implemented this policy quietly, wef which year ?
      (perhaps some MOE scholar)

      going forward, into future -
can we change back to the past, where allowed to take Triple Science ?
unless someone working inside MOE willing to take up this challenge, persuade & convince the Education Minister.
Or bring up for debate openly

NUSH students take triple science (from day 1 ) and also one compulsory humanities subjects eg. arts, Literature, Economics, Geography, History, Music at Y3 and Y4 either as as core or electives. They can also do Computing on top of triple science and humanities. They can continue to pursue this humanities further in Y5/Y6 specialization as one major if they choose to or pursue triple science as majors or honours if their results allow them to do so.

In a way, NUSH satisfies the MOE conditions ( at least one Art contrasting subject) at an earlier stage y3/y4 instead of Y5/y6 (JC stage). As a matter of fact, some parts of literature and Geography are in y2 humanities curriculum.
Alamak, NUSH is better than RI. Never thought about being not allowed to do triple science in RI. MOE so biased, allow NUSH to offer triple science but not other schools.

      Why ah ?

NUSH is not constrained by GCE ‘O’ or "A" level framework, good student can even do accelerated Maths or science modules at NUS too !! Now you know why some hard core Maths/ Sciences students only have NUSH in mind !!!

Was so confused with these new terms - H1, H2, H3.. What does 'H' stand for ?

How's your girl doing ? Promo exam has started.. or ended ??

No idea what H stands for. So many changes since our time. Promos were over a couple of weeks ago. They've been super busy working on PW. (Another thing that's new to us parents.)
Hi jtoh, have missed you at the RGS thread. 🙂 H stands for Higher in H1, H2 and H3.

Ahemmm lets say both are \"unique\" .

Just a point that has been niggling me - what is the big advantage of taking triple science besides keeping options open. What are the career options that actually make rigorous use of all 3 sciences and maths?

As far as I can see, keeping options open is the main advantage. As they go higher in education, they will tend to specialise more. A basic understanding of a wide range of other subjects, not just other sciences, is likely to be needed along the way, but they can always read and self-study. Not everything should or needs to be 'taught'. There are differing opinions about whether a broad-based or narrow-based education is better at various ages and stages. Everyone agrees that broad is good at lower levels, and specialisation is good at the top (for some careers, maybe not all). How and when to do the tapering is hotly debated. I think it also depends on the individual - some are by nature keener on a wide range of subjects, while others are narrower. Neither is good or bad, just different.

I've been wondering too. Perhaps it's a hangover from our time when taking triple science was seen as a more prestigious and pre-med course?
