No idea what H stands for. So many changes since our time. Promos were over a couple of weeks ago. They've been super busy working on PW. (Another thing that's new to us parents.)
Hi jtoh, have missed you at the RGS thread.iFirefly:
You're welcome, firefly.

Was so confused with these new terms - H1, H2, H3.. What does 'H' stand for ?
How's your girl doing ? Promo exam has started.. or ended ??
H stands for Higher in H1, H2 and H3.

I think may be H stands for Heng ah,H1 is Heng, H2 is very Heng, H3 is super Heng, the next level is minister Heng -

Ahemmm lets say both are \"unique\" .
Alamak, NUSH is better than RI. Never thought about being not allowed to do triple science in RI. MOE so biased, allow NUSH to offer triple science but not other schools.
Why ah ?
Just a point that has been niggling me - what is the big advantage of taking triple science besides keeping options open. What are the career options that actually make rigorous use of all 3 sciences and maths? -

As far as I can see, keeping options open is the main advantage. As they go higher in education, they will tend to specialise more. A basic understanding of a wide range of other subjects, not just other sciences, is likely to be needed along the way, but they can always read and self-study. Not everything should or needs to be 'taught'. There are differing opinions about whether a broad-based or narrow-based education is better at various ages and stages. Everyone agrees that broad is good at lower levels, and specialisation is good at the top (for some careers, maybe not all). How and when to do the tapering is hotly debated. I think it also depends on the individual - some are by nature keener on a wide range of subjects, while others are narrower. Neither is good or bad, just different. -

I've been wondering too. Perhaps it's a hangover from our time when taking triple science was seen as a more prestigious and pre-med course?
