2010 P1 Registration Exercise for 2011 In-Take

Teachers play a part too...
My DS's teacher will nicely explain to the kids that some of their friends have relatives far away that's why they 'need' to go see them for instance so the other kids wouldn't feel so

-
A parent of my DS' nursery classmate raved about their CNY trip....where it was so cold that it was 地下十五度 (15 degrees \"underground\") when he meant 零下十五度 (15 degrees below zero).

when my DS was in Pre-School, there was once he came back with a party bag full of disneyland stuff. Not someone's birthday, but some kid had just returned from disneyland, so whole class received gifts from disneyland.

Something similar happened though not in the form of gift. Some boy in her class went to Japan disney and came back with stuff which he was \"showing off\" to the other K1 kids..... -
Actually I posted because I feel that the environment does shape the kids. Eg. in the case of the premium preschooler who wants to go to US. This arise out of the influence of peers around him.
I am thankful that so far my older kids do not have such problems. Instead we only hear of needy students. -

Hi AlexAbi, have you done much research on RVPS? What do you think of the school? Which phase will you be registering? Seems there are much more boys than girls in this school. :?
Hi minnie2004,
I did not do much research, but has been asking around and read the forum here.. My conclusion is RVPS is average in the academic... but I heard from a few of my friends that RVPS is strong in Chinese and good in character development. The principal is new and previously he id with St. Hilda Primary School.. So I really hope he will be able to push up RVPS academic standard..
I decided to go RVPS is because I scare to go thru the balloting stress. Actually at first, my first choice is Fairfield which is within 2km from my house. It is nearer, save time for kid to travel and it has student care within the school compound. But after doing some research, the chances getting into Fairfield is very slim…. However, I can register my son in Phase 2A2 for RVPS.
So which school is your first choice now? -
auntieM,
It’s really thoughtful for the teacher to explain an issue out of school context to the kids…at least the others will not feel the peer pressure of not being able to travel far.
minnie,
sorry if i have missed your post…but do you have any kid due for P1 registration this year ? where do you plan to register ? -

Hi,arielle08:
Hi, once you reject your place in 2A, it's instantaneous and you cannot go back in time. Unless you are super sure of your eligibility in 2C, don't reject first. I understand that pp usually have 1 at the 2A school; another at 2B/2C school - about last min (maybe half hour) to put this plan into action. A bit nerve wrecking no?
v curious leh. How do they do that? So 1 parent at the secured school say cancel/drop out & te other parent immediately apply? The system is so fast?? -
jajnj:
yes. i heard that parents actually did that. the system is that fast - P1 registration leh, don't play play

. ok, maybe it'll take a few min instead of a few sec, so parents intending to do so should factor in that processing time.

if parents withdraw after the phase is closed, the vacancy will be allocated to subsequent phase.
if parents withdraw before the phase that they had registered in is closed, the vacancy is back to current phase. -
Tankee,
Your advice on P1 registration is really updated. I only remember how stressful it was when I had to register my son…every day watching at TV text to see demand don’t overflow.
P1 registration really not play play, like what jedamum mentioned.
