        Hi Tweet,

Thanks for all you have mentioned. Quite a bit to digest but vital info.
Your daughter really worked hard to get into her choice JC…that kind of internal motivation will drive her further.

        Hi E3,
For CL compo, I got this title ‘Chinese Essay Writing Guidebook’. Has 3 levels, elementary (brown cover), intermediate and advance. There is this other book I got. It’s titled, ‘The essential Chinese composition guidebook for primary students 好词好句’ Both books are by Victoria Publications.

Thanks Janet, I do hv one 看图写话 which is too simple for the school's standard. Her teacher requires them to use 成语. I ended up telling her what to write. Although she read this guide book, it's still not sufficient. I was hoping she can read some models which are more applicable. I will check out the books you had recommended. :thankyou:

            Hi E3,

I have that book you mentioned…blue in colour right ?
Remember when my son was in P3, the tutor told him to add in 对话 wherever necessary to boost the content, possible for even the 1st paragraph. Now got to add in ‘more ink’ like 好词好局,成语 to make it more interesting.
That’s the difference between SAP school (higher cl) and other schools.

Hi, my dd started this year at P2, that is for Chinese essay. The 成语 are given as helping words for writing the essay.

                  Hello all,

                  I'm new to this thread.
                  I am a SAHM and have 2 boys, p6 and p4 now.

My elder boy is feeling the stress this year, esp after the CA1. He didn't perform well as he had wanted. Hopefully he will recover from this and work hard towards his goal. 🙏

                      Thanks E3, will try that.

Btw, has anyone reviewed the p4 science paper? i have doubts with 2 questions :

                      1. MCQ Q20, choose an animal that has similar stages in their life cycle as that of a duck (a diagram showing egg -> young -> adult).
                      (1) tiger (2) housefly (3) butterfly (4) mealworm beetle

The answer is (1). Can anyone convince me? I had wrote a note to the teacher and the reply was 'internal fertilisation'! Does that mean that all mammals will have 3 stage life cycles instead of 2 which they were previously taught?

                      2. Open ended Q39. Fatimah decided to cut away all the leaves on his pot of plant in his garden. What do you think would happen to the pot of plant?

Answer : the plant will die eventually.
Reason: the plant cannot get sunlight and will not be ableto make food, hence it will die.

My son's answer: the leaves will grow back.
Reason: there are still food and nutrients stored in the stem, which will enable the leaves to grow back.

the teacher's explanation: the stem is too thin, therefore not much food in the stem!

This question is quite similar to the Science Practical wooksheet they had done before. But the question was such that the boy continue to cut off the leaves once it grow back, therefore the plant will die once all the food had been used up.

I am still not convince by these answers. Can anyone explain better? :?:

For question 1, the best answer is 1. the rest are too far off.
Otherwise there is a possibility that the questions are badly set.
