As a new mum (my son is 13.5 months), I’d be interested to hear from all the experienced mums here about how they deal with being a FTWM, how they manage to handle the baby (or children) and the hubby and the household, pets, etc.
I work as a professional. I have no maid at the moment (no plans to get one) so sometimes my house and my cars are left dirty (esp. since there is a large condo being constructed right in front of my house). Between hubby and I, I am definitely the one who ‘takes charge’ of the household - I make sure the bills are paid (because hubby always forgets!), I keep track of what is running low (toiletries, petfood, etc.) and various appointments (baby’s checkups, people’s birthdays, etc.). I also ‘take charge’ of my son’s education/entertainment - I plan and carry out his Shichida home practice every night plus I do all the ‘research’ on all the interesting stuff that’s available for him (that’s how I ended up in KSP forum!). I try to have some time for myself too, but this is considered low priority. I have to sacrifice some things - like preparing homecooked dinner for the family every night - I love cooking but since my son came along, I can count my kitchen visits on my two hands.
No complaints at all. Still, sometimes I wish that I could put it on auto-pilot and put my feet up.
How do you all do it? -
lovekidsverymuch: how wonderful that you have help! unfortunately my parents are in Sydney and my ILs are in Malaysia, so it’s just hubby and I in Singapore. My mum came to visit for a while over Jan/Feb - it really made a lot of difference to have even one extra pair of helpful hands.

I've worked for my 1st and current boss for 13 years now. Can't resign bcoz I married him :oops:, Have to help him lah (not that really I love the job).
3 kids = DD 10yo, DD 8yo and DS 4yo
MIL helps take care of my kids, maid does the housework and cooking.
Very grateful to MIL, bcoz she also goes through their homework AND she's a very strict disciplinarian -

Hi pinkiepirate, I have a maid to take care of my elderly parents and DD. Even then hardly have time for myself. My mum used to take care of household stuff until she fell ill so I now handle the household stuff too. Also Need to monitor DD's school work via teleconference or she tends to let the work slide until the last minute. And take care of parents meds, hospital visits, etc. Can be quite a challenge. Hello Soh WL and welcome! Thanks for compiling the list..and NOT leaving me out! Your eldest DD is the same age as my DD. Must be fun working for Hubby - can take offence with the boss without getting into trouble. No need to apply for leave too!I've collated the members of Club FTWM. (i think neater lah)

Yes though there are own issues with IL's staying with us but then when we see the broader picture we try or rather I try to let go these things!!
