Ichigokun:
I thought everyone already knew on Monday whether they are promoted or retained? I heard that all those who are to be retained were already informed earlier in fact (like by end of last week, they already contacted their parents).
Yup. In Secondary 3 now and facing some big problems with A-Maths, E-Maths and Physics. :frustrated: Physics making some improvement but A-Maths & E-Maths are in a complete mess :nosebleed:iFirefly:
先苦后甜。。
Ichigokun.. You're in Sec-3 now ? I still remember reading your posts, when you first joined CHS Sec.. How time flies..
How are you doing in CHS ?
This EOY's papers were super difficult. More people in my class failed A-Math than passed -- including myself. Just hoping I can clear Sec 3
:xedfingers:
Word of Caution for all Lower Secondary students to have a good Math / Science Foundation before progressing to Sec 3 or end up like me..
Strongly considering to drop A-Math for next year. :imconstipated: -

They didn't contact mine directly and neither did they say anything last week but they informed me on Monday that my parents will have to go down to meet with the level head to discuss more on what they can do next year.

I did pass the minimum number of subjects required which is English +3/4 other subjects but I didn't pass 50% because of A-Math & E-Math if it's 8 subjects we're talking about. If it's L1R5's 50% then I passed..
There were another 10+ people facing the same situation as me though.. So worried now :faint: -
Ichigokun, don’t give up on A Math yet, until you’ve tried all options. If I may share my elder son’s experience. Up till Sec 3, he’s been passing both A & E Math, but fluctuating from B3 to C5. Then, I got him a tutor early this year and within a few months, I saw improvements. For his Prelims, he scored A1 for both Maths. If you put in effort, Math is a subject that students can score well in, it’s not like Humanities, if you know what mean. Hang in there! Get help & persevere.

Can I infer from all your sharing that…
All Sec-1 IP boys take HCL, but most (not all) Sec-1 O-Level boys take HCL while the rest take CL ? -

Means you're not retained lah. Just have to re-take the Math exam in November, that's all. -
phankao:
But if still fail the retest means have to retain right...? :nailbite:

Knowing my mom, she will get me tuition for Math ASAP
I understand that Math is one of those subjects that you can score really well in since there is a concrete way of doing for every question; unlike Literature for example which can be very abstract.
Shall work hard for the next year to come! :salute: :celebrate: -
The new JC is going to be designed by CLP Architects - the same architect that designed SMU and Gardens by the Bay. Apparently , it would have escalators and a glass 'enclosure" at the top of the building that will give a panaromic view of Bishan Park. The design of the campus blends into the park.
Also the JC will be offering all 3 prestigious program
-Music Elective Programme ( currently offered in ACJC,DHS,RI,TJC)
- Humanities Scholarship Prog ( currently in ACJC,HCI,NJC,RI,VJC,TJC)
-Bicultural Studies Prog ( currently offered in DHS, HCI, RVHS)
Seemed like MOE have already have very high expectations of the JC. -

The key to doing well in math is really practice + feedback.
