Nan Chiau High School
-
What puzzled her was that her DD obtained an A2 with merit in oral and yet the school makes it compulsory for her to retake CL in this Nov O level exam.
From her understanding from CL teachers in other schools, it is very difficult to get an A1 without a distinction in oral. Can anyone verify this?
My dd school's MT teacher emphasized that it is very tough to get a 'distinction' for MT if the students only manage to obtain a merit in MT oral. I heard the same from my niece sec sch's MT teacher. Both schools leave the decision to the students whether to re-sit for the written exam.

Their last 'O' level result was at the high end of Band 3. Heard that the teachers are pushing the pupils real hard this year. I presume we should see better performance from this year's batch.Eventhough is a SAP school but their 'O' level is not impressive. They are not even Band 1 school. Quite sad to say that.
I thought of sending girl to this school even girl says is not even Band 1 and very Chinese. She is not keen eventhough is within Sengkang. -
How is the Nan Chiao High compares to CHIJ St Nicholas? I will be moving to Sengkang in 2 years, but now staying near St Nich. Do they have Track and Field? In dilemma. My daughter just finished her PSLE.

Thanks Goodluck8..
The nearest mrt is sengkang. I think it abt 10 mins walk to sch fro the mrt station. Some students prefer to walk to Lrt station which seem to be nearer. Which area do u live? Maybe taking bus will be more convenient.iFirefly:

You can go to this website http://sis.moe.gov.sg/ to check out the schools you're interested in. St. Nic has a higher PSLE admission score. Their CCA groups have also been getting better results.
It's actually not difficult to get from Seng Kang to St. Nicholas. There's a bus 136 from Seng Kang interchange to Yio Chu Kang road. From there, you can take one of the 26* feeder buses to St. Nicholas. But your kid would have to sacrifice her sleep. -

The MRT station is about 10 mins walk to the school, but no shelter. Even though there's a LRT station very near to the sch, my son actually prefers to walk from the MRT station because he feels that he spends more time waiting for the LRT. He also thinks it's good exerciseWhich is the nearest MRT station to Nan Chiau High ? Is it within 5-10 minutes of walking distance from the school ?

There's a bus 50 from Bishan interchange to a bus stop two traffic lights from NCHS. There's also bus 163 from Upper Thomson rd to a bus stop next to the school.
