The nearest mrt is sengkang. I think it abt 10 mins walk to sch fro the mrt station. Some students prefer to walk to Lrt station which seem to be nearer. Which area do u live? Maybe taking bus will be more convenient.iFirefly:

How is the Nan Chiao High compares to CHIJ St Nicholas? I will be moving to Sengkang in 2 years, but now staying near St Nich. Do they have Track and Field? In dilemma. My daughter just finished her PSLE.
You can go to this website http://sis.moe.gov.sg/ to check out the schools you're interested in. St. Nic has a higher PSLE admission score. Their CCA groups have also been getting better results.
It's actually not difficult to get from Seng Kang to St. Nicholas. There's a bus 136 from Seng Kang interchange to Yio Chu Kang road. From there, you can take one of the 26* feeder buses to St. Nicholas. But your kid would have to sacrifice her sleep. -

There's a bus 50 from Bishan interchange to a bus stop two traffic lights from NCHS. There's also bus 163 from Upper Thomson rd to a bus stop next to the school.

No offense but as a recent graduate from that school I can really say that the 4 years spent in NCHS were the best years in my teenage life compared to primary school and JC. Of course everyone have different opinions and preferences to different types of schools, but I just hope to share some of my experiences:)
I got 254 for my PSLE,not good enough to enter tops schools like RGS and NYGH but could get into other decent schools like MGS,CCHMS,SCGS,St Nicks during my time. I chose to enrol into this school firstly because I’m living in the East so it’s practical to choose a school that is convenient for your child and secondly, coming from a SAP primary school,I naturally would want to continue my education in more "chinese" schools. St Nick’s is a SAP school for a very long time while NCHS wasn’t a SAP school at my time but I decided to put NCHS as my first choice as I really dislike the fact that some schools are opened to affiliations.No offense, but perhaps it would be a good point to consider when choosing a secondary school for your child. I personally think that students coming from non-affiliated schools should think carefully before enrolling into schools with affiliations bearing in mind that you will be studying with people who are getting was lower than you from an affiliated primary school while you worked so hard for PSLE to be sitting next to them.
Don’t get me wrong,it’s not to discourage anyone going to those schools,if you really like the school then why not?Just my thoughts…Regardless of which school you enter,you still have to work hard and rely on yourself and not the school or teachers.It is true that NCHS may not be as good as some established SAP schools but given its PSLE COP which has rised to 246 last year definitely shows that it has the potential for the coming years given that it was only accorded SAP status in 2012.For Chinese language in NCHS,yes,it is given much emphasis since its a SAP school with strong chinese culture hence the push by the school for students to get distinctions in chinese.I was a higher chinese student in NCHS and in the school,those who got A2 and below for chinese won’t be able to take HCL in sec 4 because the school wants to push everyone for an A1 for chinese,which would be very helpful for your L1R5 when entering a JC.Of course, NCHS is also good at other aspects like maths and sciences,performing arts etc.
All the best to all P6 students!The ultimate decision lies with you,make a wise decision that will sustain you for the next 4 years,no point studying in a school for the sake of banding or anything besides your interest. -

yes,for my batch and previous batches,I graduated in 2012,all my classmates who got A2 and below were asked and made to drop HCL,only those with A1 for express chinese can continue with HCL,I'm not sure if there's any changes for future batches,but it's good to check with the school now if you're keen.Hope this helps! -

Personally, I do not think it is a good idea for the school to force anyone who has gotten A2 and below for MT to drop HMT for I believe that those who got A2 or even B3 have a very high chance of getting at least a C6 for HMT at O-Level exam. This will enable them to get an extra 2 bonus point deduction for entry to JC.
Also, by continuing to learn HMT in S4, the student will also have a better chance of getting A1 for MT in the O-Level exam due to their exposure to the Chinese language.
No offence but I feel that some schools tend to set rigid rules with exceptionally high expectations from their students which may not necessarily benefit them. -

In addition to my above post, I feel that though most students in NCHS are above-average performers, they are not as good as those in premier SAP schools' on average. Thus it is even more unrealistic for the school to ask their students to drop HMT once they fail to obtain an A1 for MT (in S3 O-Level exam). Holding on to HMT (if student passes S4 O-Level HMT exam) helps in bonus point deduction, since NCHS does not have any JC affiliation.
Even some premier SAP schools with affiliation do not set this rule.
