College by the Park sounds nice. 🙂 Better than Bishan JC.

Yes.. Pray that it won't be called Bishan JC.. BJC.. :slapshead:

One possible name is Trinity JC (formed by CHS SNGS SCGS).. Hearsay only.. No 'evidence' will be provided.. 😓

      :siam:

In our MTP meeting, the Principal said some of the suggested names (some tongue-in-cheek)from the girls were

      Trinity JC
Singapore Nicholas High ( Singapore from SCGS, Nicholas from SNGS and High from CHS )
      LKY JC
      College by the Park

.....It would be cool if they really named it LKY JC 😄

College by the Park is nice too...

We were informed that the new JC will have a 10-storey building with lifts (not sure about escalators, though). The P joked that the new JC could be named 'College By The Park'..

I certainly hope the P was really just joking.. 😓

My DD told me in their briefing that there will be escalators in the JC

I’ve also heard of the name Trinity College. But I doubt SCGS will agree to it. Why LKY college?

Just curious to know why SCGS does not agree to it? May I know will the new JC be ready in 2017 for the pioneer batch of IP students as my lastest update few months ago was that the pioneer batch will spend their Year 5 & 6 at the temporary site at Bishan ITE college? Hope the pioneer batch is able to enjoy the facilities of the new JC.

Holy Trinity. SCGS is a secular school.

In fact when MOE first announced the join of these 3 schools, some were thinking~ SNG & CHS both are Catholic School like brothers & sisters from one family, sounded logic. But why SCGS?

                    Trinity means -
the three forms of existence of religion Godhead co-exist together (3 in one), as :-
                    Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

                    SCGS not a mission school.
                    SCGS is a secular school.
SCGS history can be traced back 115 years ago when she first started, in July 1899 : to her rich & influential Peranakan roots.

had this new JC exclude SCGS -
formed purely by (Catholic High boys + St Nicholas girls), then Yes, this new JC can be named \"Trinity Junior College\" : since both are joined together in common, by their holy Catholic religion faith.

In fact, if look at all existing JCs in SG, apart from Catholic Junior College, no other JC come as close.
(Anglo Chinese Junior College is Methodist, not Catholic)

Only (Catholic High and St Nicholas) group form the next batch / JC : where mission-based college (Catholic boys and girls) come together, study for A level together.

                      hearsay :
last time considered the idea of merging SCGS girls, with St Joseph boys.

in the end did not turn out, because SJI -
                      - background also Catholic Brethren, ideally: their partner to consider \"marriage\" (not just match academically) preferably, also originate from the same religious background.

                      - in the end SJI select the IB path, not A level
(choose a different route, from SCGS)

The Catholic schools (CH, SNGS etc.) already have affiliation with CJC. Why is there a need for them to come out and form a new JC without religious background?
