2016 PSLE Discussions (Born in 2004)

Dd submitted her option form for subject banding for next year.

Time flies, from submitting her P1 registration to this P5 option form… in no time, we will be registering her for PSLE.

Dd made marginal improvement in math. . 0.5marks. CL2 by 1mark. Science and English improved by 5 marks each… her EL compo did not improve though, still one of the lowest in class.

Dear Mummies, must we keep all textbooks, workbooks, worksheets for revision in PSLE? Now that the year is over, I feel like throwing them away to clear space

I cleared daughter's textbooks.
only kept science. need the space for p5 books.
husband says I am very ruthless when it comes to clearing :evil:

We are going to do exactly this.
Maybe I'll keep the P3/P4 OnSponge and Getmethinking Maths books for another year.

Ruthless, I like. But that is something beyond me... I am a hoarder . Always thinking 'this may come in handy next time', in the end I always forget where i kept the things and had to buy new ones.

Ruthless, I like. But that is something beyond me... I am a hoarder . Always thinking 'this may come in handy next time', in the end I always forget where i kept the things and had to buy new ones.

my favourite time of the year...AFTER SA2.

take out a few plastic bags, pull everything out from the shelves and CLEAR...son has to do his own clearance. daughter is a hoarder like hubby :slapshead:
if things are not going to be used at all, keeping for another 10 years means they will still be there. so out they go. hubby always warns kids to keep up what they want or they will not see them again :evil:

I intend to keep dd1’s p4 to p6 notes. Although dd2 hardly refers to but i feel very unsecured to throw. End up double p4 notes this year.

So I’m a big time hoarder where notes are concerned.

Didnt buy textbooks except chinese & music book so not much to throw in terms of textbooks.

I donated around 50-80 storybooks like ladybird series, winnie the pooh and chinese storybooks. Took up too much space and I didn’t want to buy new cabinet to store their ever expanding collection. No point keeping those simple books, already outgrown. Gave to school collection drive.

I think i have 100 young scientists magazines level 2 and 3 accumulated over the years. My kids still adore those old magazines so i shifted those magazines to my mum’s house. They read diligently whenever they visit my parents

Completed most of my 大扫除 at home. With the exception of school notes, my guiding principle is if i dont need it the last 6 months, mean can throw. Already made two trips to salvation army. Very therapeutic, 爽!

I usually have him do one piece of work a day during school holiday but read lots of books. I have also engaged a chinese tutor to get him started on 作文 during holiday

Ur ds ok with such hol work? Mine, i got to negotiate hard, bcos he said every piece of work he does for me means he has less time to play and i shd not \"eat into\" his play time bcos he's supposed to rest....
Actually i give him a lot of freedom during hols, play dates, soccer dates, sleepovers, all he ask, i usu say ok, but when i 要求他做几篇作业only, he complain, complain....his tutor tell me p5 dec hol cannot let go, must let engine continue...... :nailbite:

DS did not say ok but I just built it into his routine :evil: , with the exception for weekend, which I will just let him do whatever he wants. Not saying he does work with a big smile, but he knows I cannot see him idle away or I will nag. Anyway, one piece of work will not take up too much of time if he is focused, maybe an hour at most. He has no cause to complain. :imanangel:
