Nowadays all schools have school counsellor. If go to private one, must pay a lot of money.

Hi,
Hmmm - can consult the school counsellor, but that goes into the school records too. So if u want to do something discreet, maybe pay more and get a private counsellor.
You can try Raffles Group, Camden, Mount Eizabeth, they all have child psychologists. Good luck and please dont worry too much, maybe a bit of the harmonal changes at this age too… -

As I don't have the specifics, the few I am suggesting here specialise in the counselling of youths: Singapore Children's Society (the one at Toa Payoh), Students Care Service(hougang and clementi).Hi,

Actually you can work with the school counsellor. If it's anything serious, counsellor will refer to external agencies. -

No they dont write in report book. Just a record that the child went for school counselling. I sent my DS for counsel too but i get his approval first before i approach the school counsellor. now he is happy in school and scoring As.

I think the above suggestions are good. Heard them over the radio many times.
Alternatively, speak to your church pastor if you do not mind. School counselling seems like more negative (personal opinion, plus the school record - the child may back fire) -

Mind if I ask what is the triggering factor to get a counsellor? -

I don't think there's any triggering factor (correct me if i m wrong). cos i persoanlly talk to the school counsellor and ask abt this. Basically, they will just put a remark that your son has seen a counsellor.. that's it. no other details will be there. The counsellor assure me that there won't be any \"black mark\" on the students. He advices me to send my son (P4) for counselling before it's too late. He told me many parents procastinate and it 'worsen' as the kids goes into teenage where there'll be more problem (puberty etc) to worry about.
