I want to be very focused in getting assessment books for DS2 as I believed he will not have so much time next year to work on so many.


Which do you recommend for science? Is the 'daily dose of science' 'challenging science by Renee Chong' or 'Ultimate science workbook' better?

We did this in P4 and will do the same in P5 - buy the bare minimum and ensure it gets done. Then, focus on solving top schools' exam papers. That's good enough.

For P4 Science, we bought (and dd completed) Daily Dose Science. My dh, who does Science with dd, liked this book. So that is what we are going to buy for P5 as well.

My friend's dd used Daily Dose for English and Maths. She had a favourable impression of both books, although her dd did not complete them.

This year, we may buy Daily Dose Maths as well.

We already have enough for English (bought last year).

I bought getmethinking p4. Haiz, still brand new and p4 already over.

Should i insist dd2 to complete it?

I suggest you sell it and buy the P5 books instead. Then make a time table to complete it starting in Jan.

I am selling off the P3 and P4 Getmethinking and OnSponge books. Already bought the P5 Getmethinking books.

I like Daily Dose too…there is a good mix of questions…and for English, all the components of paper 2 are covered…same for science.

Mummies and Daddies,

I compared and found that the so called New Edition Normal chinese Mother Tongue textbooks for P5 are the same as the old edition. The only difference is 5A textbook page 66 is now printed on page 67. FYI .

getmethinking is a Maths assessment book by Ammiel Wan. You can get them from the tuition centre in sin ming.

They also have centre in goldhill (next to United Sq). Centre name is Visible Maths.

this year’s p6 is the last batch of students taking the old syllabus English (composition and comprehension). have to start drilling my daughter in these 2 areas.
