How to replace t score and place every students in secondary school ?
If moe can come up with a new and agreeable placement method, then can remove t score

Hmm..

Dunno about T score.
But the teachers seem to have busy time this month. Seems like meeting from morning to evening :scratchhead: for two weeks??
I dont think they do that every year... maybe a coincidence?

Hmm...few years back, gov has announced they going to do something like take away t-score and grade the student like 'O' level. :roll:

What is getmethinking book pls?

getmethinking is a Maths assessment book by Ammiel Wan. You can get them from the tuition centre in sin ming.

This is a graded series from P3 to P6. You can also buy the books from some schools' bookshops. My dd's school bookshop sells these, although the books are not in the school's book list.

Onsponge math is very difficult…it’s for kids who can do higher order math.

GetMeThinking has detail examples on how to solve problem sums using models, followed by questions to practice what you have learnt. I flipped through one book only, borrowed from a friend. They have books for various levels, like P5 book 1 and 2.


onSponge also has the same format, but the examples, as far as I have seen in the P3-4, they are not quite enough.

Someone in the forum mentioned another book, title is something along the line of math model …strategy…can’t recall offhand. A friend also recommended to me, so I popped by Popular to take a look. They have books for 3 levels- lower, upper and advance (or something similar. These are very good books, in my opinion. Detail explanation on different methods to solve different model questions. Very well organized. however, they only have like 3 questions per topic. So these are like text books.

Hope you can find books or tools suitable for you and your children.

good to know that there is a psle thread for 2004 kids

I joined psle 2014 (kids taking psle this year) on facebook n found support is good
I have DD taking psle in 2016

I liked Getmethinking better than OnSponge. I found their classification of problem types more logical. And the examples are more numerous, as Bungii said above.

My dd, OHOH, who is average in Maths, found OnSponge easier to understand than Getmethinking.

Nicklebee Tutors has posted a detailed review and comparison of these two books in the forum (and also on their own blog).
