hi There,

Can anyone advise the comparison between Ngee Ann Primary and Yu Neng Primary? My son is currently in NAPS but as we are going to be moving to Bedok Reservoir area, we're looking to transfer him to YNPS (subject to availability of course). He's currently on waitlist for the transfer but just trying to evaluate our decision on whether moving from NAPS to YNPS is a good decision. Would appreciate any advise. :scratchhead:

Thanks phtthp.

Can you elaborate on why you would say that?

You may compare Psle results between Ngee Ann (your child studying here : can get ) and Yu Neng (ask around)

compare the percentage : entering Sec 1 Express stream,
and how many students scored 250 and above, preferably 255 and above : for a wider choice of going IP Secondary schools.

If both schools only a handful achieved 250 and above -
then compare the number of students scored 240 and above :
for a wider choice of going to better O level (Express) stream Secondary schools.

Hi all. I’m very new here (this is my first post). Can someone advise which school is better - Maris Stella, St Andrews, Anderson, St Gabriel, St Joseph and Maha Buddhi. Or perhaps someone can point me towards the way to search for the answer to my question? Is there a list of schools according to ranking for eg? Thank you!
I'm now feeling slightly anxious, I was just thinking of choosing whichever school is most near my house for the sake of convenience, is it really important to get into a good school?

Yes, unless your DD is very well educated or a slow learner, then u can go for distance, else a good school is very important, good school teach more compare to a normal school, you will see the different in P3 GEP selection test & PSLE overall results.

Or a simple one is look at their pass year test papers level. Also normal school, not so pressure for teacher to have results, which results in some teachers are just passing time....

Some primary schools do not even bother to arrange Parents meet Tr (PMT) session.

actually, the most important PMT is the one held in November : Term 4, since Nov is year end, and one long year of study (from Jan to Nov) had already passed, before go up to next level.

If schools do not hold in June, never mind.
But should hold it in Nov.
Nov one is important.
Actually a good school is one that cares for students though not many parents appreciate. i feel ptm is very important and best to held in the either june or sept holiday. When my son is in p1 , he has many behaviour issues , during the mar holiday teachers request to see me during ptm, they try to help at the same time. June holiday request to see me again in ptm, other problems my son has. By sept ptm no need to see teachers cos all issues during past 6 months have been addressed by teachers and my hard work to set him right but i still book a timing to see teachers to see any feedbacks. The school does not ptm in Nov.

Hi,

I have friends who sent their sons to Maris Stellar, St Andrews and St Joseph. Can't advise for the rest.

The Maris Stellar mum compared her P2 son's tingxie list with 4-5 primary schools and was shocked that being a SAP school, her's was the easiest. She later complain to the sch VP. The 2 who sent their sons to St Andrews complaint sons being bullied in sch. This year, friend's son in SJI Jnr did very well for his psle and this mum told me SJI Jnr improved a lot after the new P took over after recently. You can try to get some feedback from your friends or relatives with children in those schools.

If possible, go for a primary school with affiliation to a good secondary sch. I won't purely look at the top psle score of that school but rather how many % of children scoring above 250. The schools you mentioned above are all over Singapore. Home distance is equally important, pls note, some of the schools above ballot even within 1km.
