Yes, Not so correct info for cedar ip.

I went to open house with a friend whose dd scored 250. Spoke to p. p said 250 may have to appeal if it's ip. Their o level cut-off is already 249 last year.

Hence, it's the p's discretion for appeal cases. She may admit students with as high as 247, depending on factors other than results.

This is assuming that this year COP remains at 251 or higher. If COP drops to 250, then likely she can get in.
No harm putting it as a choice if that is the preferred school.

Since this year overall performance drop, compared to last year -
will Cut off point for Cedar drop from 251 (last year) to 250, or rise above 251 ?

Thanks for replying. If my son gets the Ib diploma after 6years, can he apply for universities in usa or uk directly without taking other tests? Thanks.

:torchme: Hi.Thank you Kiasu grandmaster for replying. I am wondering what are the benefits of Ib and ip. My son got 255 plus 3.

For sec schools, there are 2 tracks - O level and Intregated Program (ip)

IP skip O level and is a straight 6 years program. There are 3 different tracks for IP - NUSH, IB ( Acsi / mgs/ sota) and A level tracks (all other IP schools)

The advantage if IP is that it skip o level.

With a score of 253 plus 2, should we choose St Nic IP or SCGS IP first, since both are leading to the same JC. We like both school but can’t seem to decide which to choose first. Should we try NJC and MGS IP since their cut off point is higher last year?

              Thank you.

              St Nic/MGS are mission schools.
MGS IP is leading to IB, the rest A levels.
+2 only if applying to SAP secondary schools : doesn’t apply for SCGS/MGS/NJC

Besides COP, see if above factors help clear your thoughts.

              Thank you.

We are aware of the mission schools and SAP school but just wonder will we stand a chance if we were to apply MGS/NJC since their cut off point was higher (based on 2013). We also went for the open house in SCGS and St Nic today and were impressed by the culture and students of both school. Both principals also assure us on the Special Programmes that will be offered at the new JC and we are excited about it.

Yes good to put as 1st choice.
I was writing in reply to woodgrove reply. It can't be an \"almost sure\" situation. Based on last year's cut off, the last student who was given admission was 251, so we can choose but if the cut-off remains the same, one May have to appeal.
Don't want kids to think almost sure and then realise appeal is based on discretion of p.

Do you think I should let my child choose a school (COP 188) that is very near to my house?

                  English A*
                  Chinese A*
                  Math B
                  Science A*
                  T-Score 250
This score might even qualify for 6yrs IP program, have you consider that for your child?

Personally I would have chosen a sec school more inlign with the child t-score.
                  😄

With a T score of 248+2 …not sure any chance for Catholic high O level…? Catholic High is a SAP school so it should take in as 250 .

My DD got 255 and would like to go for IP.

                      need advice and comment.

                      1. MGS IP (IB)
                      2. SCGS IP (A)
                      3. NJC IP (A)

                      Which school is better?
What are the pros and cons for IB compared to A?

                      Thanks

Agreed. Can put preferred school in first two or three choices and realistic choices for the rest. My d d 's friend missed the cedar cut off by six points, spoke personally with the cedar principal who said she might still want to try! Personally I think if that is the preferred school, go for it!
