In book list, there was a handbook which serve as guide book to complement text to help students…son told me it is not necessary to buy…what is more important is comprehension, composition practice.

But I remember that handbook by 杨舒贞 (Sap) was very helpful at primary level.

五月份时，朋友介绍一位德明政府中学的S3男孩，高级华文，但他是最后的一名。决定接手之先，我先和孩子的妈妈及男孩见了个面，观察了一下他，看了他的考卷，给妈妈大概地介绍了补习的方案。这次SA2，这位男孩考了C5，班里排名20。

还有一位男孩，是八月份来的，海星中学S2，普通华文。他的华文实在是差，连一个完整的句子都读不下来，这两年的华文从来没及格过，并且一直是班里最差的。破格地收下了他，考前上了12次课，这次SA2考了E。考作文时他没带字典，否则应该能拿D，因为只差2分。关键在于，他现在可以较好地读一篇课文了。
除非朋友推荐，我一般不教，因为实在太忙了，而且上一节课要花两节课的时间来准备。这两个学生都是经MOE的华文老师朋友推荐而来，勉为其难，呵呵。
总结他们学习华文的经验，有这么几点：
第一，必须要从字词基础教起。老师要很仔细找出学生所不明白的词，然后记录下，并在课后做成Notes给他们，要求他们在上学路上坐巴士的时候阅读。
第二，老师本身要中英文精通。对于基础差的学生，单单用华语解释，可能老师讲了半天，但是学生依然不懂，因为他听不懂老师的解释。此时，若能给予恰当的英文解释，则顷刻顿悟。对于华文字词的解释，如果老师的功底不错，应该深入地从文化层面讲讲字词的来源。我曾经给学生就“鼎盛”一词，讲了二十分钟，学生的印象极其深刻。
第三，针对性的练习。练习需循序渐进，先字词，后阅读，再作文。一切以考试实战为出发点。老师要能传授其做题技巧，字词该如何选择判断？阅读该如何找答案？作文该如何找到合理的套路？等等。
第四，要特别地注重分析考卷，把握出题人的出题特点，进行押题。前文那位海星S2的学生，字词部份10分，被我全部押中，他开心的不得了。原因在于我仔细地分析过他SA1的试卷，找出了出题人的特点。德明的那位S3学生，也遇到一些类似的题目或字词，因我判断该校的考题基本参考O水准的风格。
以上是一点教练心得，与诸位同参！
