I personally feel now Nan Chiau is very popular. If didn't stay within 1 km, chances of getting into the school is low even it is under Phrase 2B.Hi
im staying in punggol and if I join Hokkien clan, does that mean I am eligible for phase 2B also? because I saw my neighbour son and daughter are now in nan chiau primary school
Plus need to join Hokkien huey kwan for \"certain\" years than able to get the recommendation letter. I forget how many years. -
ya the letter will based on your contribution.im already a SHHK member. the problem is im staying at punggol. don’t know got chance to be in phrase 2b anot

May i know for the buddhist or church clan parents to register their kids in phase2B, have they receive letter from primary school to get their approval to register in phase2B?
For Christians, they need to get a letter from their pastors.
For Catholics, they require the parent’s baptism certificate.
For Hokkien Huay Kuan, they need a letter from the clan.
Not too sure for Buddhists…
Parents have to bring such documentation to the desired schools during Phase 2B. The schools and MOE do not issue any letters coz they won’t know which school you want to choose for your kid.
Hi,
so for Catholics, only require parents baptism cert? what about the child, need baptism cert? don’t need letter from pastor?
Thanks! -
Hi all!
I have just read all 145 pages of the thread and am going through a panic attack for my ds who'll register in 2018.
Wondering whether it'll be too late to join SHHK as its dragon year too? :slapshead: -
Hi… Just wondering if there are any paya lebar methodist church (PLMC) members here… Do i need to serve a number of hours in church to qualify for phase 2B? Must the child be member of the church as well or just the parent will do? Thanks in advance!

no one can safely say becos a lot depends on which school you are after (eg Ai Tong, Tao Nan super popular years back, dunno how much has changed). SHHK pp probably won't know for sure also cos each year the number of letters fluctuate.Hi all!

Remember that there are 2 intakes of members each year (I think), so if you miss the deadline, you have to wait until the next meeting; and there is NO ASSURANCE they give you a letter even if you do 100 hours of volunteer work or join since you are born.
A better bet could be to join the PV - once you clock the hours, you are confirmed for P2B registration. -

Oops, I saw that news when it came out but clear forgot about it. Very out of touch.

I was very keen on Kong Hwa during DS1 registration time, but went to register at another school due to myriad reasons. I don't know what would have been at KH, but definitely no regrets not going because experience at kiddos' school was way better than anticipated.
Mostly, allowing them the luxury to sleep for additional 5/10 minutes was definitely worth it. -

Thank you Hquek and JT69. Whoa, that means the huay kuan route should be more competitive than ever
Might have to look at other options already! Thankyou! -
Dear parents,
my girl is born in 2011 and will do P1 registration in year 2017. And from what i know, tao nan school does not accept PV anymore.
so we thinking of the hokkien huay kuan route.
Can i know how early should i join hokkien huay kuan and do i need to do volunteer work for the clan too? If i join now, will be about 2 years plus before P1 registration. I also read that the tenure of membership matters more than volunteer work for the clan.
I read that need to get 2 members of the clan to sponsor me so i can join the clan as member. Does that requirement still stand now? I dunno any member…sob
Also when will hokkien huay kuan issue the letter of recommendation? I heard that the clan does not issue such letters for all members but on a case by case basis. So by when will they issue out the letter so that we will know if we have a chance at phase 2B?
Thanks a lot.
PS: I called up both the pri sch and the clan but they dont seem to say much.
