Hi dolphinsiah, if can guarantee \"A\", I think most parents won't mind the high charges too lor. Provided the child can take the pressure and stress.

Dolphinsiah, cheese, how are your children coping with the pressure and stress at senior high level ? Are they feeling stress ? Are they active in their CCAs ? Joining any extra events beside CCA ?
      Good morning!

My Child highly stress...talks during the sleep šŸ˜ž
No choice I told my child bite the bullet and go to the local U...

My child slacks during her Y1 & 2...imagine never bring back textbooks or revise...during junior years

So we had to confiscate her MP3 and handphone...
Imagine 2000sms each month..even during exam period :x

So I keep telling my child the U door very small...full of China scholars...
Shame if an IP student cannot go into the U door :stupid:
Paint my child the real world...needs to earn lots of $$$ ....

Now my child sought of waken up...but still must monitor... :?:

My child is doing Chinese Dance as CCA...
Now the school is busy with the YOG Dance....
Extra Dance lesson in NAFA during Saturday...
Guitar lesson on Friday(but dropping so...)

So u imagine how stressful we are.... šŸ˜ž

And you will not see any IP Students roaming in the Shopping Centres after Schools!!!
      All highly Stresss

But it is for the child future... šŸ™

I thought only SAP IP then need to take HCL. Non SAP IP, not necessary. If you are not taking HCL in PSLE, you can still get into SAP IP and IP, just that you do not have the extra points to add. :?

But I think RV is a must because it is a Chinese school so students must have HCL in their PSLE...

But you can call to check whether the rules has changed...

dolphinsiah, good that she wakes up in time. Ya, typical teenage issues - sms.

I see there are still RV students roaming at JP but mostly the juniors lor.

BTW, the 3.5GPA, is it still taking ALL subjects or there is any change? I know quite a number of IP schools are taking L1B5 (Lang Arts + Best 5).

What is her bed time? It seems like 11pm for them is very normal ... šŸ˜ž

I think ithe GPA is based on all the subjects...but must check with my child again .

My child sleeps before 10pm...early sleeper
But wakes around 5am for school
            Leaves home around 6am...
She likes to be in school early...avoid the crowds...
My child sleeps early, wakes up early...no late nites...even during exam period.

Yes...is very crucial to stimulate the child's crave for success as I read in another thread. RV usually take in 30-40 China scholars in year 4 and they are real good academically. If local students students don't work harder and smarter, the situation won't look too nice.

To study well...there is usually a key approach or manners of understanding each subjects that open the child's mind up (so call Qiao(4) Men(2) in chinese). i guess the tutor you got from NTU must have certain special method of presenting the subject that makes it very easy to learn to score well. But initial hard work is always indispensable especially for languages.

If they are scholars, sure can get in local Uni 100%. And at year 4 stage, most of them should be quite stable in their mindset and knows what they want. With this kind of attitute, 101% can get in local Uni lor.

[quote=\"dolphinsiah\"]Yes in order to be accepted by a IP school , student must do HCL in PSLE.

Oh gosh, is that true ?! I din know tat !!

The only thing I was told by sch was that with HCL, you get extra points when applying for SAP sch. But the sch never tell us that only students with HCL can get admitted into IP !

Are you very sure abt this ? Is there any official statement at MOE or sch website abt this ? Do u know if it's the same for NUSH & SST ?

the sch accepts pupils so long the COP meets the requirements of the IP school.
just that if u take HCL in PSLE, u are entitled to the bonus points for SAP sec schools.

as far as i know, sec 1 posting is by merit through PSLE scores. as long as the child meets the cut-off point for which ever IP SAP school, the child will posted there irregardless of whether child is taking HCL at PSLE or not.

anyway PSLE HCL contributes bonus points to overall aggregate. pass = +1, merit = +2, distinction = +3

                    hope these help šŸ™‚

You all are talking as if getting into a local U is so difficult. The fact is that 30 years ago, only top 5% of every cohort get into the U but today 20% of our population have a university degree.
