May i know whether you have any contacts to buy ballet shoes on line or stores in singapore. Teacher quoted around $40+ for ballet shoes - was just wondering whether can get cheaper shoes outside. My gal is only 7 yrs and just started to learn this year. tks

I normally buy from Sonata. They have 3 branches - Orchard, East Coast and Selegie. Depending on size, I bought Size 11.5 for my DD at $26 compared to her dance school at $50.

Stage Image is another place to buy your dance attire. It is slightly cheaper, mainly because it does not have gst.

Taneo Dance Academy at Woodlands is selling ballet shoes at about $25. It's good quality leather ballet shoes.

                    Hi mummies

My gal is turning 4 next year and am keen to enrol her for ballet. I am totally clueless about ballet and need your advises here. Is moving art a good dance school for ballet she is currently attending pre nursery under cm but she wanted ballet. Am residing at Hougang any good ballet school in Hougang for ballet or I can just continue at moving arts?
                    Many thanks!
You can try Taneo Dance Academy's new branch in Bishan. Since it's new the schedule should be quite flexible. Can get a good timing. Their price is good and it's quite a happening school.

                      SAHM2KIDS:

In terms of fees, Dancepointe is reasonable. Dd is grade 5 now and the fees is 290 per term and each lesson is 90 mins. Fees for coaching clas is 290×3 (3 terms).

Starting from this year, Dancepointe has this apprentice program to train the girls for competitions. I think this helps in DSA.

                      Just to share. 😄

                      Hi sahm2kida,
May I know whether the coaching class is 3 terms for all grades, or just for grade 5?
Can share the names of such competitions? And these competitions are organized by which organization, rad? How many months does it take to train for competition?

                      Thanks.

Taneo Dance Academy has the Rising Star program to train dancers for competitions. They send them for overseas competitions also. TDA grade 5 $250 per term, each lesson 90 mins. Coaching 250X2 (2 terms). Recommended for parents who have tight pockets but still want top quality training. Just that location may be a bit troublesome since its in HDB area. By the way, number of coaching terms is determined by school. Most schools do 2 terms, some do 1. Other numbers are quite rare.

CSTD competition is only open to students taking CSTD examinations. A lot of dance schools are opening up intensive programmes to train competitive dancers. CSTD is becoming more popular these days because of the competitions. Parents like DSA related stuffs!

                        Hi!

Any comment on The School of Dance at yishun - http://www.the-schoolofdance.com/?

I'm looking around for yishun/woodlands ballet...

How about the CC ones at:
                        - Chong Pang
                        - Jelutong (By Dancepointe but I read that it's not so good as it's not strict and all fun...)
                        - Woodlands CC (2 different operators: Eastern Ballet and Trudance)
                        - Crestar Woodlands Civic Center?

                        Many, many thanks!!! 😄
Taneo Dance Academy in Woodlands. They have good quality courses, teacher is young but already train a lot of award winning dancers. Price is very low too.
