          sembgal:

Primary 1 is indeed a honeymoon year. :please:
          2015 P2 won't be a honeymoon year anymore, unlike 2014 P1.
because at end of next year 2015 P2 :
          streaming occur, in most schools.
          because when enter 2016 P3 :-
from 30 kids per P2 class : will become 40+ kids per P3 class.

when they stream, they lose some of their old classmates, make new friends with new classmates.

I was thinking the chances our piggies to be the affected by the NO t-score thingy might be slim…

News was made in 2013… Cos that was the year that pm was addressing to the education aspect…
It was announced when the ministry has yet to made any draft plans…
Most probably they will take 2-3 years to iron out the concrete plan of how to go abt without tscore… (2014-2016) another 2 years to simulate accessments plans and sec1 admissions methods… (2017-2018)
Another year for getting approval by all authories to confirm the feasibility of new policy (2019)
Actual year of setting new plans in stone should be around 2020…

            My guess la

Primary 1 is a honeymoon for some schools.

But there are many bite sized tests to prepare kids for tests/exams eventually. Come primary 2, there will be a REAL exam at the end of the year. But this thread is PSLE in 2019…it doesn’t make sense to 7+ year old kids.

Hi janet88, it's a long journey towards PSLE. Having read and heard too many stories about PSLE, every parent's ultimate goal is for the child to do well at PSLE. The results obtained in each semester from the school exams will not determine which school the child can go to after Primary 6. It is the final PSLE results that determine the child's fate. Having a good 5 years to plan ahead and warm the engine slowly is definitely a better option than to step on the accelerator towards P5 level.

                    phtthp:
this batch (born 2007 : golden pigs) is 5th batch :

to test out new PSLE English format, implemented since 2015. (1st pioneering batch)
                    luckily not the first batch
instead of past 10 years series : we only have past 4 years series, to refer to.
                    bb_ mom:

And maybe there'll be major changes to the system?

pray that our batch still able to stick to the existing single T-score.

not going to be the pioneering batch of guinea pigs -
to test out the new system by Moe to abolish single T-score, replaced by the new banding of T-score, for entry into Secondary schools. :nailbite: :slapshead:
                    better bypass this changes
(not sure when Moe will implement : which 1st batch of guinea pigs affected ? )

Any changes to be made, I hope it will not affect children born in 2007. Children born in 2007 are lucky in a sense that they get to practise on at least 4 years of the the new English PSLE syllabus past years exam papers when they are in P6 in 2019, get to practise on at least 2 years of the new Science syllabus exam papers ( new revised P3 Science textbooks since 2014) and get to practise on at least 1 year of the new Math syllabus exam papers (new revised Math syllabus since 2013). Children born in 2007 are very lucky to be the last batch of students taking the old Chinese syllabus and get to practise on past years Chinese exam papers. The new Chinese syllabus will take into effect for children born in 2008. Those children born in 2008 and after 2008 will have to learn the new Chinese syllabus.

Therefore, children born in 2007 are blessed indeed to take PSLE in 2019.

I just have a feeling that the children born in 2008 will somehow be affected by the changes that is going to be made ahead. With the emphasis on Chinese, the curriculum is being revamped and the children born in 2008 may be affected.

With each curriculum revamped, the syllabus gets more challenging.

But the old saying still remains, \"Every school is a good school.\"

Learning (by the child) and coaching (by parents/caregivers) is more meaningful and less stressful when PSLE is not the end goal.

Establishing good reading habits, writing legibly, laying numeracy n literacy foundation, are skills n abilities the child will/should develop as one progresses thru the learning journey. No matter how well prepared the child is, one will feel the PSLE heat in P5/6. To worry abt losing marks in S&T n cloze passages 5 long years b4 PSLE is ......... :yikes:

Yes, agree with you that perhaps this new banding of Psle T-score may kick off, after year 2020.
If true, means kids born in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 onwards, may be impacted, affected.

How much difference is this new Chinese Psle format, affecting 2008 kids onwards ?
tougher than current, existing format ?
