Hello! The posting day is on 22nd, and I noticed some replies about Macbook in the older pages.
Do we have to buy the macbook? Is it absolutely compulsory? Can we use our own laptops instead of the macbook?
I’ve seen the Macbook and it doesn’t really appeal to me. I think that its hard to navigate, and a little bit confusing.
I’ve also got other questions. My parents want to get me the uniform on the posting day but it may be a little crowded. Does the queue get shorter if we go on another day to buy the uniforms? -

Yup, Macbooks absolutely compulsory, even if you have another laptop.
I know of some people who didn't buy a Macbook and instead loaned one from the school though it might be more of a financial situation as compared to having another laptop at home. Doesn't hurt to ask someone though
I think there would be a talk on 1:1 since its a new thing, but anyone should be able to direct you to the relevant person to speak to on reporting day.
I would recommend you get the uniform at Bibi and Baba at Far East Shopping Centre. (Take one or two bus stops down from RGS) Crowds can get really crazy on Reporting Day since there are going to be booths set up in the canteen and most people will get it on the same day out of convenience. Alternatively, during my year, I went out to get lunch and came back within 30mins or so and the crowds died down so it wasn't that long of a queue. ^^
And yup! Queues will get shorter if you come back another day.
Welcome to RGS! ^^

When you mentioned about the shorter queue, are you referring to the queue in school during the Reporting Day or the shop at Bibi&Baba?
Thanks for sharing. -

The queues in school during Reporting Day is pretty crazy, but the vendor from Bibi&Baba comes down to RGS on the 1st Friday of every month, but there shouldn't be that much of a queue at Far East Shopping Centre's Bibi & Baba even if you go on reporting day.

My dd is joining the rgs family too. When we stepped into the campus today, we were greeted with an enthusiastic "welcome". Even after we left the campus and took a bus to Scotts rd, a rgs girl saw my dd and must have guessed rightly that she will be in the same school, smiled at my girl. My dd came home feeling happy and can’t wait for school to start. On the other hand, I don’t want holiday to end.

Is it necessary to be a Parent Association member to attend the parent talks ?. PRGS seems to be very active. Any feedback on this ?.

The form requires one to fill up membership no to attend the parent talks and I think it is necessary to be a member. I spoke to the vice chairperson and was told there's a no of parents who volunteer actively in the events. -
What is the difference between girl guides, girls brigade and national cadet corps.
