The tennis match cannot continue unless it stops raining.

"until" means up to a certain point right?

        Or should it be:

The tennis match can continue until it starts to rain.

Hi ks2me, that is wrong because your synthesised sentence means that it has not rained yet, while the sentence above the synthesised one says that it is already raining…

              FWIW, I’m with Chief here.

"Until" does mean up to a certain point, so,
The tennis match cannot continue until (up till this point) it stops raining.

Unless is also correct (although it’s not part of the question) but it depends on a situation, ie, when it stops raining.

Hi ks2me, you did not understand my point. Your sentence is wrong as you are saying that it has not started to rain yet, when the sentence above say it is already raining now.

Muffins, I know what you mean. The sentence just sounds awkward to me.

                        Hi,

                        I need help here !!

Is there a way to remember the young of an animal ?

                        For eg,

foal is the young of horse
calf is the young of cow
pup is the young of seal, dolphine, dog
kitten is the young of cat, rats, rabbit, etc

Is there a pattern somewhere that will help the kids to remember ??
I can't even remember, how to expect the kids to ?? :stupid:

Also same problem with collective nouns.

                        Any idea ??

                        MTIA !!
