Hi pokemon
i luv the magic faraway tree series when i was in pri sch and now my ds1 likes them too, hv yet to introduced to my ds2. I hv the 3 series all in hardcover, i have seen also all 3 series bounded in a thick hardcover book. U may want to try the big bookshop, at clementi centre (same buildg as yamaha), they have another outlet in the east, not sure of the location. U can also try bras basah complex, the 2nd hand bookstore at Thomson plaza has a main office there (shd be on 3rd flr), the girl incharge told me they hv more books there, i was at thomson plaza last week, also din see any magic faraway tree series.Happybirdks:
Does anyone know where to get the hardcover version of The Magic Faraway Tree series and The Wishing Tree series by Enid Blyton?
I've tried those 2nd hand bookstores and Popular at United Square, but can't find them.
btw, i ever browse thru internet sm times ago and found actually theres a fourth magic faraway tree book selling either UK or US. Anyone knows abt it or know where to get a copy? i cant find it locally.
thanks for the info! I will try to make a trip to bras basah this week! Hopefully can get copies of the books.
Saw some on ebay which are the large hardcover type with coloured illustration. But some are going for us$45 a copy! My son prefers those with pictures, so I am very tempted to buy from ebay!
I have not heard about the fourth Magic Faraway Tree book. Could it refer to the latest edition instead? -

Saw loads at Bras Basah yesterday - there was a bookfair going on (sorry last day was yesterday). So I'm sure it's available at those 2nd hand bookshops. I got some old Enid books at $1 each - a steal! I did see the magic faraway tree and wishing tree series.Does anyone know where to get the hardcover version of The Magic Faraway Tree series and The Wishing Tree series by Enid Blyton?

BTW if you can wait and are willing to try. I have seen new copies on sale at MPH expo sale and the likes. got 1 omnibus (set of 3 books in 1) of faraway tree at I think $5.40 (after all the discounts) at the last sale. -
Hi would like to know which are the good English story books suitable for 8 yrs old girl? My dd doesn't like to read Enid Brighton so I have been borrowing other story books from the library ...

-
i think it depsnds on the kids' interest. Though my kids are rather young, they do have preference for certain themes/types of stories. This I found out after exposing them to a variety, and seeing which ones they keep asking me to read. If there's a particular author they like, I will borrow the other books by this author too.
Hope it helps

Thanks mummy of 2. Actually I am trying to find which story books have better written English as I think ,maybe, :? some of them the English is not too proper as such the young reader will pick up the wrong thing...

Hi All,
Want to make a book recommendation here. I bought this book two years ago, but DS was afraid of the back cover and refused to read it.
http://www.theinventionofhugocabret.com/index.htm
He picked it up last night though, and couldn't put it down. It's still early, but it looks like this is a hit! I haven't read it, but the illustrations are very beautiful. It's about automatas which are like wind up robots - these were popular a few hundred years ago in Europe.
You can find the reviews here:

On a personal note, this is a triumph for us because DS has never liked mysteries or fantasy. So after this, who knows? Agatha Christie? Hehe.
Happy Reading! -
Hi all,
Does anyone knows if the Rainbow magic series of books are good readers for 5 yo? :? My daughter likes it, and I m not sure if I should let her continue reading the books.
Here is the link to one of the books :

Anyone can give me advice?
Thanks! -
Blobbi!!!
DS received the Hugo Cabret book last Christmas. He enjoyed it. He says the book is like a movie. I havenβt read it myself though.
