Jc eligibility is 98.8%, 53.8% of the students obtained L1R5 equal or less than 10. :rahrah:
While it is very heartening to see such stellar results produced by the effort of students and especially the hard work of the teachers, the students must continue to put in extra effort in their tertiary institutions.
For this batch of students who came into NCHS with cop of 234, no doubt the teachers' effort is highly commendable, be it in the area of academic or School-based Science Practical Assessment (SPA) (or science practicals) set and marked by own school teachers and accounted for the 'O' level science exams.
I have seen students from such schools who managed to get in to very good JCs but soon lost their bearings as these JCs require them to be independent learners, not constantly drilled and guided by their school teachers anymore. As such, many were retained in JC1 or not getting very good 'A' levels results that the average 10 pointers would.
Not to pour cold water but they must continue to work very hard and independently, especially when they are able and thus have chosen JCs with highly competitive environment.
'A' levels syllabi are totally different from the 'O' levels.
Good luck to all! -

And is SPA really set and marked by their own school teachers?
How does SEAB control the results then? -

May I clarify if you are referring to L1R5 or L1B5?
The former refers to 1 first language and 5 relevant subjects which must include at least 1 Science, 1 Math and 1 Humanities subject into the computation.
The latter refers to 1 first language and any best 5 subjects which may not include any sci, math or humanities subject, e.g., 2 sci, 2 math and chinese language.
