I would put HCI as a first choice followed by NJC. Honestly, 7-4 is pretty unlikely to get in. From the MOE website: \"If there is still a tie, say between two Singapore Citizens, the one with the better gross aggregate score will be posted into the course first.\" That means people who got 6-3 will be getting the places before your brother.
What is considered a good gross score at the O lvls? -

He's going to the open house tmr to look around. Thanks for all the advice guys.
What about the CCA that your brother intends to take up at JC?
NJC does not hv uniformed groups n might hv lesser choices compared to HCI.
Btw there should be a short period of boarding for JC 1 in NJC after the orientation week.
Last year, my elder boy told me the teachers were doing revision in term 1 for all students in SH1. We guess it was to more or less ensure the O lvl students are on the same starting point as those in the IP.
What subj combi will your brother like to take up in JC? -
Good morning everyone - my DS achieved L1R5 of 7 but can only minus 2 for CCA making it 7-5. He is aiming at VJC - anyone has advice? Thanks.

Normally by history, the cut off for HCI or RI is 2 points.
What is the entry point this year for HCI n RI? I thot its still 3 for Science n 4 for Arts?
I remembered Jon posting the list of entry points for JC but cant remembered where is the posting now -

The best gross score for L1R5 is 6. But it won't get you anywhere if everyone is aiming for the few well known independent schools. You need to have another 4 points discount to be absolutely sure of where you want to go.lesleer:

I don't remember it being 2 for years. The best was 3, meaning partial 3. Ri arts used to be 3 but was 4 last year.isetan:

It is hard to say cos the first batch of ip students from cedar and vs will be going to vjc this year. Means there are less vacancies at vjc than previous years. No harm trying. The cut off shouldn't differ very much from previous years. -

They may increase the intake to ensure O level people are not squeezed out by IP, just like the other two mountains - where they increase the intake in addition to those from withinpslemum:

Hi all, I just got back my results, my o lvls net L1R5 is 7, im considering going to either anderson jc or anglo-chinese jc. Im more of an arts student, although I hope to be able to get a hybrid course. Any advice on whether or not anderson is better or anglo-chinese is better or maybe a third choice?
