heh..heh..if you didn't do PV for WG, then you really need lots of luck πŸ™ Anyway, no harm trying πŸ˜„

Yes dear really need lotsa luck πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™

So which means he enjoys his school and the teachers there πŸ˜‰

Yes very right though that shouldnt be a problem since I have IL's and maid and they can take turns if required... but teacher wise I wanted the feedback for Juying, Xingnan and Pioneer cause my DS is very naughty 😞

Having been to a few of the parents'-teachers sessions, I'll say I'm ok with the teachers so far. No major complaints from them (about DS) except that he tends to talk too much (UNECESSARILY 😐 ) and DS r/s with his teachers are also ok. However, he has one complaint though - he said he hope that the Chinese teacher don't speak so fast in class...he can't 'catch-up' with what she's talking at times 😎 My DS unfortunately needs to pull up his socks in this subject and the teacher happen to be from China and speaks like, well, someone from China 😎

I guess it really boils down to the 'chemistry' between the child and the teacher and of course, it would really help if the teacher is caring and enthusiastic at the same time. Oh, one more thing - Juying is very strong in Robotics - u may hv heard of it in the earlier posts. So if u r keen to have your DS learn this, then this sch can be one of your choice.

      Hope this helps!

      cheers...

After ds being in Juying for three months, I have got to say I’ve got no complaint about the sch or the teachers. Attended several events in sch with ds, find tt principals and teachers are also very β€˜pro-parents’. Probably they wld like to boost their name in the jw area too.

About the Chinese teachers in Juying - yes, almost 90% of the teachers are native chinese and I LIKE it very much. In Jan, my ds in p1 got to do a chinese test (He claimed that there’s rearranging words into sentences, filling in the correct words, count the strokes etc and was difficult). Later during a HYPY wkshop for parents, I checked with his chinese teacher. The chinese teacher said that test was to differeniate the children’s std tt’s why its was pegged to a more difficulty level. I feel that if the native teachers can be accepted as MOE teachers, they must be good or not better than local chinese teachers.

          Hmm sounds good then πŸ˜„

          Oh yeah agreed!!

          hmm he definitely enjoys Robotics....

thanks a lot for all this information can I pls ask one more thing?

Do they have enough ppl for the class cause I heard they have lotsa empty places last time?

Also do they classify students according to the academics??

          MTIA
I think the number of students in P1 class during DS's time is abt 25-30 students per class. Not sure about now though. You may check the number of vacancies left after the last phase on the web, think that shld give an idea of the take up rate...

Again, not sure about the current practice but during DS's time, yes - there is streaming at the end of P1. As far as I'm aware, the more academically-inclined ones (usually the 1st to 3rd positions) in class will go to A or B class, and the rest distributed amongst the other classes (ie. from C onwards).

          Hope this helps.

          Cheers...

I must say I'm quite impressed when I attended the HYPY class 2 years ago when DH was in P1. I'm quite surprised to see a few native Chinese teachers there and I felt that with their presence, the 'standard' of the Chinese in the school must be pretty good.

I still have the same sentiments but (just purely based on my own experience), I felt that their expectations from the Singapore students are a tad too high. I'm really not sure if this is a fair statement but well, DS seems to hv some problems in his Chinese now (compared to P1 & 2). Of course it could be because he is currently taking HMT (the students are 'streamed' to either normal MT or HMT based on their year-end results since P1) and therefore expectations are higher...

Anyway, as far as I'm aware, the chinese students (native) are doing very well in Chinese, and that probably sets the standard for other students to follow suit...

Yes, checked out with ds 's FT during PTM this year,
the info i got is similar, based on P1 english and Maths results,
the top 30 position of the P1 cohort will go to Pri2A class and
the next 31st to 60th position will go to Pri2B.

The children have to maintain their position to stay in the respective class
or otherwise dropped out of the A/B class. πŸ˜›
Imagine the stress of those children who are more matured and competitve from the A/B class....

Yup, the kids will have to 'maintain' their standard throughout the years if they want to be in A class till they reach P6. Every year, some of the students in A class will be 'redistributed' to other classes if their standard are deemed 'not on par' with the rest of the class :!: . Similarly, those who have done well in the other classes will also have a chance to go to A class if they have done well in their final year exams.

Have to keep reminding DS that if he should slack in his studies, there is always a chance he will be posted out to B or other classes . That sure is 'motivation' enough for him to keep to his toes. But don't think he really cares if he stays in A class, but because he doesn't want to lose his good friends for the last 2 years

Hi jiyou2003, any comment for Whispering Heart Student Care (blk 617). is it ok? I’m thinking to send my girl to this student care.[/quote]

                  Sorry for very late reply.
I find this student care okay, they are active in Jun and Dec holiday. Today they had Easter Day party at church.

                    Hi, all

For kids who are in the student care the whole day, althought they are also encouraged to log onto lead.com to do the assignments, I think it is not necessary to finish all of them since they spent the whole day in the student care and have limited time to complete all the assignments.

At least my DS never really completed all of them since P1 (he's currently in p3) and his form teacher is ok with it...Just to share in case some parents whose kids are in full day student care get 'stressed' over this. However, you may just want to double checked with your child's form teacher just in case...
                    Hi Sakura,
My son is in student care the whole day. There are a long list in lead.com (form unit 1 to unit 5 ...). When I saw he wrote \"do assignment in lead.com\", I was crazy. Yes, you are right, we had limited time left. There are spelling and MT spelling every week.

                      Hi Yerdua,

                        Hi Jiyou2003,

I've chatted with parents from the upper levels, like p2-p6 with one parent's child graduated last year. (KSP networking, haha!). They say that teachers always say that to indemify themselves in case of any changes. But this system has come in force since four to five years ago with all teachers supporting.

Nope, i dun have FT's hp no but some other parents have it. I dun see the need to have the FT's hp no too. Email for me is sufficient. πŸ™‚
