Start next year, Moe going to introduce changes to A level again.

The last time A level syllabus changed : occurred in 2006 -
where Moe introduced a contrasting subject.
If you are a Science student, you take a contrasting Arts subject.
If you are an Arts student, you take a contrasting Science subject.
so that no A level student is a pure Science, nor a pure Arts student.
You are a mixture, of both arts (humanities) & Science.

It was also in 2006 : that Moe removed Triple Sciences, in all Junior Colleges.
        With Triple Science gone -
for Science students : Chemistry compulsory.
Pupils take either Chem with Physics, or Chem with Biology.

        In RI -
500 A level students take H2 Physics, another 500 students take H2 Biology.
Chemistry is their common H2 subject.

In Hwa Chong Junior college -
        900 A level students take H2 Chemistry.
        out of these 900 -
500 students take H2 Physics, another 400 take H2 Biology.
        The rest take Humanities.

        next year 2016 (10 years later, from 2006) :-
"A" level syllabus going to change.
one of the changes involve : bringing back F Maths to A level.

This year batch of 2015 JC1 students admitted -
is the last batch, remain unaffected. (escape)

        next year 2016 JC1 students :
will be impacted, by the new A level syllabus content change(s), coming up.

          Eldest Daughter:
I got a C5 for HMT :yikes: but plan to enter yllsom, will this C5 then affect my chances of getting in and will this also cause me to be prejudiced against people who score better than me in HMT but score the same with me in the other subjects for A levels?

Good question. How about those are not even qualify to take o level higher MT? How does the score of H1Chinese which is easier to score put them in better position ?

C5 for HMT is converted to D for H1 MT if considered for calculation

                  pirated:
Some didn't appear as muggers because they are the closet muggers

                  Very true indeed...

There are those who claim they never study and yet ace their exams.

Also, there are those who secretly have tuition at home, but will never admit that they have tuition! I used to have a classmate, and when I ask him where he went for tuition, he said his mother say cannot tell. :scratchhead:

                    sinoboy:

It looks like its really hard for non IP students to break into top IP schools.

After studying so hard for o levels and conquering so many different variety of challenging subjects and achieving 3 or 4 points only to find out you are not good enough to qualify.

A lot of them will regret not studying harder for PSLE where there are only 4 subjects and get into IP.
agree, not easy to enter RI via \"O\" level.
\"O\" level itself not easy : so many Sec school subjects to tackle, got to handle Cca too.

out of 1200 RI \"A\" level students -
about 250 allocated (20.8 %) for JAE students from various Secondary schools, to come in at Y5.
These must be the creme of the \"O\" level candidates : with 2 point, 3 point.

                    The rest are IP students.
80 % are IP students : RI boys / RGS girls from Y4, entering Y5.

I’ve got 6 A1s with a nett of 3 (7-4). I’m thinking of placing RI, then HCI, then VJ. Personally, I really really love RI but I am afraid of taking the risk. I heard that it is easier to get into the latter compared to the former, but I also heard that if HCI isn’t placed as your first choice the institution would not even look at your application at all. So what should I do? Is there anyone who managed to enter RI with nett 3?

I know people who got rejected from HC and accepted by RJ, and also rejected by RJ and accepted by HC. It comes down a lot to raw score and luck during the ballot.
