Mine will read in the afternoon after they are done with their work or after dinner.
9pm is really bedtime as in lights out. They usually knock out within 10-15mins.
No naps in the afternoons. If on the odd afternoon DD chooses to nap, chances are she is not well. She is quite a bundle of energy. If no imposed bedtime with lights out, she can go on until 2-3am in the morning. -

at least yours was reading a story book...but mine didn't give me any reason...so she had to complete it after her school homework. she whined but I pretended not to hear.
I've tweaked the amount of work given cos I noticed he can actually do quite a bit during the 1 hour class. if only quantity of work can result in much better grades.janet88:
Hi bb mom,
Do you still set your son any work during MT exempted periods?
on the 2 days when she has 1 hour of MT, I will allocate a bit more but won't be as thick as paper 1. I told her I WANT QUALITY work. -
Janet - I hear ya! Quality is always better cos that how marks are attained. I recall a year back when I keep telling DS he’s giving nonsense - handwriting was atrocious and broken English all over the place. Not that he’s getting full marks in all the sections but I do see improvement in handwriting and effort to make sense of the cloze passages.
I noticed DS has gotten a little bit more hardworking (doesn’t mean he understands everything taught very quickly). Not as much whining when I tell him he needs to start revision earlier. And I just realized why - his friend he plays with regularly is having tuition intensively so that he can get into SJI (his bro didn’t and I guess he’s under pressure to get in). That may have motivated DS (for now anyway) to work hard too. I just hope he can keep this up and remember what has been taught and revised…
Becos of the school camp these 3 days, his revision is limited to the nights. Plus he still has math homework from his tutor. Some are easy, but quite a lot of questions, to build foundation. A few are challenging from getmethinking. And DS has always struggled with questions from this assessment book. I completely catch no ball. Hopefully, with the tutor working on challenging questions, he’ll be able to perform better in this section. -

my daughter's handwriting is atrocious...sometimes so small I can't even make out the letters :stompfeet: no marker will be able to read and for that reason, answers will be marked as wrong even if they are correct...too bad.
math tutor gives challenging questions which is completely greek to me...even so-called 'basic' ones are too difficult for yours truly, the math dummy. -
janet my dd is de same her writing need magnifying glass then can see >< i been trying n reminding her to write bigger

Why must extend sleeping time har? I still insist DS goes off to bed at 930pm. Actual KO is between 945pm and 10pm. If extend to 1030pm, he'll KO about 11pm. Sure cannot wake up at 550am.
Cos I forsee that as the workload increases and when supplementary lessons starts next week, he'll need more time to complete his work. -
Puzz...zzle:
On a lighter note, this is so true.Hi ! Reporting here! DD taking PSLE this year. This threat suddenly alive >''<
My DD still qt laid back, still taking 1-1.5hr nap everyday (sigh!!) before doing HW. I hope my dd not the only one still taking nap. Usually sleeps about 11pm.
How to break the cycle?
Oh,
we'll get through this.
